The Korea national badminton team represents South Korea in international badminton team competitions. The team emerged as the Sudirman Cup champion in 1991, 1993, 2003, and 2017, [1] also won their first world women's team championships in 2010 Uber Cup. [2]

Lee Hyun-il Badminton player

Lee Hyun-il is a male badminton player from South Korea.

The Sudirman Cup is the world mixed team badminton championship which takes place every two years. It is held in the same venue for the IBF World Championships in the same year until International Badminton Federation decided to split the two tournaments starting from 2003. There are five matches in every Sudirman Cup tie which consists of men and women's singles, men and women's doubles and mixed doubles. The cup is named after Dick Sudirman, a former Indonesian badminton player and the founder of the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI). The first Sudirman Cup tournament took place in Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Indonesia on 24-29 May 1989.

The Badminton Asia Championships is a tournament organized by the Badminton Asia to crown the best badminton players in Asia.

Greysia Polii Indonesian badminton player

Greysia Polii is an Indonesian badminton player specializing in doubles. Polii was the women's doubles gold medalists in 2014 Asian Games and 2019 Southeast Asian Games. She also won three bronze medals at the World Championships in 2015, 2018 and 2019. Polii was a member of BWF Athletes' Commission to represent the needs and views of athletes to the BWF council and committees from 2013–2017.

The 2011 Sudirman Cup was the twelfth tournament of the Sudirman Cup. It was held from May 22–29, 2011 in Qingdao, China. According to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) 32 teams have confirmed their participation, for the first time twelve teams competed in the elite group to battle for the title.

The 2013 Sudirman Cup was the thirteenth tournament of the Sudirman Cup. It was held from May 19–26, 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. According to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) 31 teams have confirmed their participation, for the second time, twelve teams competed in the elite group to battle for the title.

2017 Sudirman Cup badminton championships

The 2017 Sudirman Cup was the 15th edition of the Sudirman Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the mixed national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF), since its inception in 1989. The tournament was hosted by Gold Coast, Australia, between 21 and 28 May 2017. It will be the first time this event is hosted outside Asia and Europe since its establishment in 1989.

The 2018 Thomas & Uber Cup was the 30th edition of the Thomas Cup and the 27th edition of the Uber Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the men and women's national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF). The tournament was hosted by Bangkok, Thailand.

Kim Duk-young is a South Korean badminton player. Together with Jun Bong-chan, he won the 2015 Thailand International Challenge tournament after beat Indonesian pair in the final. He also won the 2015 Osaka International tournament in the mixed doubles event partnered with Eom Hye-won. Kim helped the Korean national team compete at the 2017 Sudirman Cup and won that tournament.

Lee Yun-hwa is a South Korean badminton player. Born in Wonju, Gangwon province, Lee started playing badminton at aged nine. She educated at the Bukwon girls' middle school, after that in Yubong girls' high school. Lee joined the national team when she was 15 and trained at the Taeneung national training center. In the junior event, she competed at the Asian Junior Championships, winning a gold medal in the girls' team event in 2001, girls team silver and girls' doubles bronze medal in 2002. She also part of the national junior team that won the silver medal at the 2002 World Junior Championships. She made a debut at the Uber Cup in 2004, and captured the attention by her outstanding performance winning the singles and doubles event in the semi finals against Denmark. In the Sudirman Cup, she helped the team reaching in to the semi finals round in 2005 and 2007, clinched the bronze medal for the team. Lee who was affiliated with the Daekyo Noonoppi, helped the Korean team won the world women's team championships at the 2010 Uber Cup.

The 2020 Thomas & Uber Cup is the 31st edition of the Thomas Cup and the 28th edition of the Uber Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the men and women's national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF). The tournament will host by Aarhus, Denmark.
