The 2018 Badminton Asia Team Championships was the second edition of Badminton Asia Team Championships, held at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium in Alor Setar, Malaysia, from 6 to 11 February 2018 and were organised by the Badminton Asia. This tournament also served as the Asian qualification for the 2018 Thomas & Uber Cup. [1] [2]
The 2018 Badminton Asia Team Championships officially crowned the best male and female national badminton teams in Asia and at the same time worked as the Asian qualification event towards the 2018 Thomas & Uber Cup finals. 28 teams, consisting of 15 men's teams and 13 women's teams entered the tournament. This tournament was held at Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium in Alor Setar, Malaysia.

The draw was held on 23 January 2018, at the tournament venue. The men's team group stage consisted of one group with three teams and three groups each with four teams. The women's team group stage consisted of three groups each with three teams and one group with four teams.

Badminton was contested at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar. Singles, doubles, and team events were contested for both men and women. Mixed Doubles were also contested. Competition took place from November 30 to December 9. All events were held at Aspire Hall 3.
Badminton at the 2010 Asian Games was held in Tianhe Gymnasium, Guangzhou, China from 13 November to 21 November 2010.
Badminton at the 2014 Asian Games was held in Gyeyang Gymnasium, Incheon, South Korea from 20 September to 29 September 2014.
The 2015 Sudirman Cup was the fourteenth tournament of the Sudirman Cup. It was held in Dongguan, China.
The 2016 Badminton Asia Team Championships was the first ever edition of Badminton Asia Team Championships, held at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, India, on 15–21 February 2016 and were organised by Badminton Asia Confederation.

The 2022 FIBA Asia Cup qualification was a basketball competition that was played from February 2018 to August 2021, to determine the fifteen FIBA Asia-Oceania nations who would join the automatically qualified host Indonesia at the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup.
The 2019 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships were the second edition of the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships which was held at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong from 19 to 24 March 2019. It was organised by Badminton Asia and Hong Kong Badminton Association. The event was also known as the Tong Yun Kai Cup 2019.
The group stage of the 2019 Sudirman Cup was the first stage of the competition. It was held at Guangxi Sports Center in Nanning, China, from 19 to 22 May. For Group 1, the top two teams from each group advanced to the final knockout stage to compete in a single-elimination tournament. Teams from group 2 and 3 play round robin in respective subgroup and advanced to classification round to determine the overall placings, meanwhile teams from group 4 play in a single round robin format for final placings.

This tournament served as the Asian qualifiers for the 2020 Thomas & Uber Cup in Denmark. Competitors could also accumulate points as part of qualification process for 2020 Summer Olympics badminton tournament in Tokyo. Indonesia and Japan were the defending champions on men's and women's category respectively. They both successfully defended their title.
