A1 Team Korea was a motor racing team that represented South Korea in A1 Grand Prix.
On 13 April 2008, A1 Team Korea was confirmed as an entrant into the 2008–09 A1 Grand Prix season at an official signing session led by Jung-yong "Joshua" Kim of Omnibus Investment and A1 Grand Prix executive director Tony Teixeira. Kim was registered as the seat holder, Carlin Motorsport were tasked with operating the team and 2006 Korean GT champion Hwang Jin-woo was signed as the teams' driver. Korean entertainment company Good EMG sponsored the outfit. [1] [2]
A1 Team Korea were one of seventeen teams to participate in the opening round of the 2008–09 season at Zandvoort, with six sitting out the event as their new cars had not yet been completed (two of those teams, Canada and Pakistan, did not race at all that season). Despite the teams' lack of experience, the smaller field combined with extreme wet-weather allowed them to finish seventh in the feature race, one place behind fellow debutants Monaco. [3] At the following round in Chengdu, Hwang qualified last for both races and was the last classified finisher in the feature race. The team attended the third round at Sepang and turned laps in practice, but did not compete in qualifying or either race due to electrical problems. The team also had to donate parts to cars crashed at the start of the sprint race due to supply shortages. [4] [5]
Having not attended the Taupō round, A1 Team Korea announced that they had sent their "advance team" including new driver Lee Kyung-woo to Kyalami for the fifth round of the championship, however they did not take part in the event. [6] The team did not participate in any other rounds that season, and finished 19th of 21 teams as a result of the 4 points they scored in Zandvoort.

Circuit Zandvoort, known for sponsorship reasons as CM.com Circuit Zandvoort, previously known as Circuit Park Zandvoort until 2017, is a 4.259 km (2.646 mi) motorsport race track located in the dunes north of Zandvoort, the Netherlands, near the North Sea coast line. It returned to the Formula One calendar in 2021 as the location of the revived Dutch Grand Prix.

Tiago Vagaroso da Costa Monteiro is a Portuguese professional racing driver currently competing in the World Touring Car Cup, driving a Honda Civic TCR for Engstler Motorsport. He competed in Formula One between 2005 and 2006 for the Jordan Grand Prix, Midland and Spyker MF1 teams – all different iterations of the same team as it was bought by new owners during a two-year stint as part of the Formula One paddock. He is the only Portuguese driver to have scored a Formula One podium finish, during the controversial 2005 United States Grand Prix.

Robert Michael Doornbos is a Dutch former racing driver who also competed with a Monégasque licence. He has been test and third driver for the Jordan and Red Bull Racing Formula One teams, as well as driving for Minardi and Red Bull Racing in 2005 and 2006. Doornbos then drove for Minardi Team USA in the 2007 and final season of the Champ Car World Series. He competed in the Superleague Formula racing series in 2008, and drove for the Netherlands team in A1 Grand Prix's 2008–2009 season. In 2009, Doornbos competed in the IndyCar Series. He began the season with Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing, but switched to HVM Racing after the race in Kentucky Speedway.
The 2006–07 A1 Grand Prix season was the second season for the A1 Grand Prix series. It began on 1 October 2006, at Circuit Park Zandvoort, and the season ended at Brands Hatch on 29 April 2007. A1 Team Germany won it with 128 points, 35 points lead ahead Team New Zealand.
Coloni Motorsport, also known as Scuderia Coloni, was an auto racing team from Italy. Founded by former racing driver Enzo Coloni in 1983, the team participated in Formula Three between 1983 and 1986, before racing in Formula One as Enzo Coloni Racing Car Systems between 1987 and 1991. They made 82 attempts to take part in a Formula One race but only qualified 14 times. Since then, under the management of Enzo Coloni's son Paolo, the team has been successful in Formula Three, Formula 3000 and GP2 Series. It was originally set to be the second race of the 2008–09 A1 Grand Prix season, but a delay in the build schedule of the new chassis forced the race at Mugello to be moved from the season opener. The same build delay meant that only seventeen of the twenty-three A1 teams participated in the race.
