Kotee [1] (transl.A Crore) is a 2024 Indian Kannada-language thriller drama film directed by debutant Param and produced by Jyothi Deshpande under Jio Studios Banner. The film stars Dhananjaya, Moksha Kushal, Ramesh Indira, Rangayana Raghu, and Tara. It marks Jio Studios entry into Kannada cinema. [2] The film has cinematography by Arun Bhrama, editing by Pratheek Shetty, and background score by Nobin Paul. [3] [4]

Plot

In his quest for an honest fortune to provide for his sister's marriage and a future in the corrupt Janatha city, a truthful common man- Kotee defies the powerful gang leader Dinoo Saavkaar. When Kotee's defiance leads to mounting debts, he faces a life-altering choice to Eliminate Or be Eliminated. [2]

Production

In April 2023, it was reported that Param, renowned for his path breaking work in Kannada television as the business head for Viacom18 Kannada cluster, [5] was set to make his entry into silver screen. [6] He joined hands with Jio Studios for the same and Dhanajaya [7] [8] [9] was chosen to headline the project. Though the title was initially kept under wraps, Dhananjaya had accidentally revealed the name of the movie in one of his interviews. Moksha Kushal was roped into play the female lead and Ramesh Indira who had impressed audiences in the 2023 Kannada romantic drama Sapta Sagaradaache Ello was cast as the antagonist in the movie.

The film was shot in Bengaluru and Mysuru. [10] [11]
