The foreign policy of Denmark is based on its identity as a sovereign state in Europe,the Arctic and the North Atlantic. As such its primary foreign policy focus is on its relations with other nations as a sovereign state compromising the three constituent countries:Denmark,Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Denmark has long had good relations with other nations. It has been involved in coordinating Western assistance to the Baltic states.

The prize is given annually in February or March. Originally the award was a laurel wreath,a golden pin with an inscription,some money and a book gift worth 2500 DKK. Today the award is a laurel wreathe,a diploma and a book gift worth 2500 DKK. The award is handed at a ceremony arranged by the publishing house which has published the winning book and by the Committee De Gyldne Laurbær. Early in January every year the committee sends out ballot to all the Danish bookshops,which then give their vote for a Danish book which was published the year before. An author can only win The Golden Laurel once-in-a-lifetime,so the bookshops can not vote for an author who has already won the prize once before. The winner is usually one of the bestsellers among the Danish books. On the day when it is decided who wins the Golden Laurel,the president of the Committee of The Golden Laurel informs the winner about the award,while journalists follow the event.
The Joint Arctic Command is a direct Level II authority in the Danish Defence. Joint Arctic Command's primary mission in peacetime is to ensure Danish sovereignty by monitoring the area around the Faroe Islands and Greenland. The command also handles tasks such as fisheries inspection,search and rescue (SAR),patient transport and other tasks that support the civil society. In short,the Joint Arctic Command handles military tasks,coast guard duties and disaster response - all in one organisation.

She is the current Permanent Secretary of State at the Prime Minister's Office of Denmark,and as such the head and principal civil servant in the central administration of Denmark. She is the first woman to hold this position and thus the highest-ranking female civil servant in Danish history.
