The Torneo Gran Alternativa (2009) was a professional wrestling major show event produced by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) that took place on September 26, 2009 in Arena Mexico, Mexico City, Mexico. The show featured the 2009 version of CMLL's Torneo Gran Alternativa, a tournament where an established CMLL star teams with a Novato or rookie in a tag team tournament. None of the Novatos in the 2009 tournament had participated in previous Gran Alternativas. The teams were Místico and Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther and Rey Cometa, Héctor Garza and Ángel de Plata, Atlantis and Camorra, Mr. Niebla and Tiger Kid, Averno and Pólvora, Toscano and Rouge and finally Yujiro and Shigeo Okumura. Shocker was originally scheduled to team with Rouge and Semental was supposed to team with Yujiro but both were replaced before the show. In addition to the seven match tournament the card featured two title matches; Último Guerrero defending the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship against Jushin Thunder Liger in the main event and Pierrothito defending the Mexican National Lightweight Championship against Eléctrico on the under card. THe show featured two additional Six-man tag team matches.

Infierno en el Ring is the name of an annual professional wrestling super show or pay-per-view (PPV) event held by the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) since 2008. The term Infierno en el Ring is also the "brand name" used by CMLL for a multi-man steel cage match where the last man in the cage is either forced to unmask or have his hair shaved off. The Pequeño Reyes del Aire Tournament is an annual wrestling tournament promoted by the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and has been held since 2007, holding two tournaments in 2012, and one every other year. The tournament includes a varying number of wrestlers, competing in a Torneo cibernetico match, essentially a multi-man elimination match with the last competitor remaining is declared that year's Pequeño Rey del Aire and is given a trophy. The match is based on CMLL's Reyes del Aire tournament which has an identical purpose, format and award. The winner is not normally awarded with a match for the CMLL World Mini-Estrella Championship or the Mexican National Lightweight Championship, the two Mini-Estrellas championships that CMLL promotes, as a direct result of their tournament victory but has as times been used to build but either a championship match or storylines between rival wrestlers.
