The Chevrolet Bel Air was a full-size car produced by Chevrolet for the 1950–1975 model years. Initially only the two door hardtops in the Chevrolet model range were designated with the Bel Air name from 1950 to 1952, as distinct from the Styleline and Fleetline models for the remainder of the range. With the 1953 model year the Bel Air name was changed from a designation for a unique body shape to a premium level of trim applied across a number of body styles. The Bel Air continued with various other trim level designations until US production ceased in 1975. Production continued in Canada, for its home market only, through the 1981 model year.

To the north, the village itself is bound by Neptune-Anza-Orion-Mercedes-Amapola Streets, Estrella Street on the northeast, Epifanio de los Santos Avenue on the southeast, Jupiter Street on the southwest, and Nicanor Garcia Street on the northwest. U.S. Route 1 Business is a business route of U.S. Route 1 in the U.S. state of Maryland. The highway runs 6.90 miles (11.10 km) from US 1 and Maryland Route 147 in Benson north to US 1 near Hickory. US 1 Business is the old alignment of US 1 through Bel Air, the county seat of Harford County. US 1 was originally constructed on both sides of Bel Air in the early 1910s. The U.S. highway was widened in the 1920s, 1930s, and 1950s. US 1 Business was assigned to the highway from Benson through Bel Air to south of Hickory after the Bel Air Bypass was built in the mid-1960s. US 1 Business was extended north through Hickory when US 1 bypassed Hickory in 2000.

The Bel Air Fire was a disaster that began as a brush fire on November 5, 1961 in the Bel Air community of Los Angeles. 484 homes were destroyed and 16,900 acres (68 km2) were burned. The fire was fueled by strong Santa Ana winds.
