Langea is a genus of tiger beetles. There are at least three described species in Langea. [1] [2] [3]
These three species belong to the genus Langea:
Tiger beetles are a family of beetles, Cicindelidae, known for their aggressive predatory habits and running speed. The fastest known species of tiger beetle, Rivacindela hudsoni, can run at a speed of 9 km/h, or about 125 body lengths per second. As of 2005, about 2,600 species and subspecies were known, with the richest diversity in the Oriental (Indo-Malayan) region, followed by the Neotropics. While historically treated as a subfamily of ground beetles (Carabidae) under the name Cicindelinae, several studies since 2020 indicated that they should be treated as a family, the Cicindelidae, which are a sister group to Carabidae within the Adephaga.
Agathidium is a genus of beetles in the family Leiodidae.
The Hercules beetle is a species of rhinoceros beetle native to the rainforests of southern Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Lesser Antilles. It is the longest extant species of beetle in the world, and is also one of the largest flying insects in the world.
Cicindela, commonly known as common tiger beetles, are generally brightly colored and metallic beetles, often with some sort of patterning of ivory or cream-colored markings. They are most abundant and diverse in habitats very often near bodies of water with sandy or occasionally clay soils; they can be found along rivers, sea and lake shores, sand dunes, around dry lakebeds, on clay banks, or woodland paths.
Omus dejeani is a species of flightless tiger beetle (Cicindelidae) that is found from British Columbia almost to northern California in dense, coastal forests. It can be found quite commonly in suitable habitats in the spring. It is most often collected with pitfall traps, but can be found walking along trails at night and on cloudy days during the right time.
Brasiella is a genus of tiger beetles in the family Cicindelidae. There are more than 50 described species in Brasiella.
Caledonomorpha is a genus in the tiger beetle family Cicindelidae.
Collyris is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are about 10 described species in Collyris.
Cratohaerea is a genus of tiger beetles. There are at least three described species in Cratohaerea, found in Africa.
Ctenostoma is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 120 described species in the genus Ctenostoma.
Derocrania is a genus of tiger beetles. There are about 16 described species in Derocrania, found in India and Sri Lanka.
Enantiola is a genus of tiger beetles. There are four described species in Enantiola, found in Southeast Asia.
Eunota, also known as the saline tiger beetles, is a genus of beetles in the family Cicindelidae first described by Émile Rivalier in 1954. They are found in the United States and Mexico
Neocollyris is a genus of tiger beetles in the family Cicindelidae and tribe Collyridini, found in southern and South-East Asia.
Oxycheila is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 50 described species in Oxycheila.
Oxygonia is a genus in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 20 described species in Oxygonia, found in Central and South America.
Prothymidia is a genus in the Tiger Beetle family Cicindelidae. There are about seven described species in Prothymidia, found in Africa.
Tetracha is a genus of metallic tiger beetles in the family Cicindelidae, formerly treated as a subgenus within the genus Megacephala. Tetracha species are exclusively New World in distribution, while Megacephala are exclusively Old World in distribution. There are ~100 described species in Tetracha.
Neocollyris subtilobscurata is a species in the tiger beetle family Cicindelidae. It was described by Horn in 1925.
Cicindelini is a tribe of tiger beetles in the family Cicindelidae, containing the overwhelming majority of genera and species in the family. There are more than 90 genera and 2,000 described species in Cicindelini.
