Liske is an unincorporated community located in Pulawski Township, Presque Isle County, Michigan, United States. [1] The commuintiy is eight miles south east of Rogers City, the county seat. [2]
Presque Isle County is a county in the Lower peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the population was 13,376. The county seat is Rogers City. The county was authorized by state legislative action on April 1, 1840, but the county government was not established until 1871. The government was reorganized in 1875.
Presque Isle is the commercial center and largest city in Aroostook County, Maine, United States. The population was 8,998 in 2018 as estimated by the US Census, a decrease from the count of 9,692 in the 2010 Census. Presque Isle State Park is a 3,112-acre (1,259 ha) Pennsylvania State Park on an arching, sandy peninsula that juts into Lake Erie, 4 miles (6 km) west of the city of Erie, in Millcreek Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The peninsula sweeps northeastward, surrounding Presque Isle Bay along the park's southern coast. It has 13 miles (21 km) of roads, 21 miles (34 km) of recreational trails, 13 beaches for swimming, and a marina. Popular activities at the park include swimming, boating, hiking, biking, and birdwatching.
Presque-isle is a geographical term denoting a piece of land which is closer to being an island than most peninsulas because of its being joined to the mainland by an extremely narrow neck of land.
The New Presque Isle Light was built in 1870, at Presque Isle, Michigan, east of Grand Lake, and sits on the namesake peninsula. It is one of 149 lighthouses in Michigan, more than any other state. Because of changing shoreline particularly, or alternatively deterioration of the original building, it is not uncommon for a replacement lighthouse to be placed in the vicinity of an earlier light, in this case, the Old Presque Isle Light.
The Old Presque Isle Light was the first lighthouse in the Presque Isle, Michigan area, built in 1840, supported physically by two-thirds stone and one-third brick, and supported financially by funds appropriated by Congress two years earlier of $5,000. The tower and dwelling did not last long in the harsh weather, however, and by 1867 they were deteriorated enough for Congress to find need for a newer station. It presently is not operational and is a museum.
Thompson's Harbor State Park is a 5,109-acre (20.68 km2) state park in Presque Isle County, Michigan. The park encompasses seven and a half miles of pristine, undeveloped Lake Huron shoreline. It provides a rustic retreat where hikers and cross-country skiers can explore 6 miles (9.7 km) of trails. Two rustic cabins are offered for overnight rental. The harbor is a great place to paddle, particularly in sea kayaks. Thompson's Harbor State Park was designated a Michigan "dark sky preserve" in 2016.

Grand Lake is a 5,660-acre (22.9 km2) lake in Presque Isle County in the U.S. state of Michigan. Grand Lake is a substantial lake of approximately 7 miles (11 km) in length and up to 1.5 miles (2.5 km) in width. The lake is on the boundary between Presque Isle Township to the east and Krakow Township to the west, approximately 15 miles (25 km) north of Alpena on U.S. Highway 23, which passes to the south and west of the lake.
