Lissy is an Indian actress, who has appeared primarily in Malayalam films, in addition to few Telugu, Tamil movies and a Kannada movie too. She made her cinematic debut in 1982 with Ithiri Neram Othiri Karyam . Her notable roles include Odaruthammava Aalariyam (1984), Mutharamkunnu P.O. (1985), Boeing Boeing (1985), Thalavattom (1986), Vikram (1986) and Chithram (1988).
Lissy was born as the only child to Nellikaattil Pappachan (Varkey) [1] and Aleyamma at Pazhanganad, Pukkattupadi, Kochi in Kerala. Her parents divorced when she was very young and she was brought up by her mother Aleyamma. [2] Lissy did her studies at St. Teresa's School and College. [3]
She was a bright student and scored good marks during her schooling. She started her career at the age of 15 when she was studying for pre-university degree. She had to discontinue her studies to concentrate on her career. [4]
Her debut into films happened in the early '80s. Along with Malayalam films, Lissy also had appeared in several Tamil, and Telugu films. Lissy is most remembered for her roles in Chithram, Thalavattom, Odaruthammava Alariyam, Mutharamkunnu P.O. and Boeing Boeing. As she stated in an interview with manam magazine [5] she was introduced to Tamil films by Kamal Haasan as his heroine in his home production, Vikram.
She fell in love with the noted film director Priyadarshan, and married him on 13 December 1990. [6] After marriage, Lissy gave up acting and adopted the name Lakshmi for religious reasons. [7] After the birth of their son, Lissy converted to Hindu religion from Catholicism. [8]
Lissy filed for divorce on 1 December 2014 in a Chennai family court and was divorced on 1 September 2016, after 26 years of marriage. [9]

Priyadarshan is an Indian film director and screenwriter known for his involvement in Indian cinema. Over a career spanning nearly three decades, Priyadarshan has directed a portfolio of over 90 films in multiple Indian languages, predominantly Malayalam and Hindi, alongside notable works in Tamil and Telugu. His career has been decorated with several accolades, including three National Film Awards, multiple Kerala State Film Awards, and the prestigious Padma Shri in 2012, India's fourth-highest civilian honor.
Sreekumar Achary, better known by his stage name Jagathy Sreekumar or simply Jagathy, is an Indian actor, director and playback singer, who has appeared in over 1500 Malayalam films in a career spanning almost four decades. Widely regarded as the greatest comedian in the history of Malayalam cinema, he is also known for his highly nuanced character roles. He is the son of acclaimed dramaturge and writer, the late Jagathy N. K. Achary.

Chithram (transl. Picture) is a 1988 Indian Malayalam-language screwball comedy film written and directed by Priyadarshan. The film was produced by P. K. R. Pillai under his production house Shirdi Sai Creations, and stars Mohanlal, Ranjini, Nedumudi Venu, Lizy, Poornam Viswanathan, Sreenivasan, M. G. Soman, Sukumari, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Shanavas, while Thikkurissy Sukumaran Nair makes a cameo appearance. The songs were composed by Kannur Rajan and film score by Johnson. Mohanlal won the Kerala State Film Award - Special Jury Award for his performance in this film as Vishnu.
Kilukkam (transl. Jingle) is a 1991 Indian Malayalam-language comedy drama film directed by Priyadarshan and written by Venu Nagavalli. The story set in Ooty revolves around tourist guide Joji (Mohanlal) and photographer Nishchal. They happen to meet a lavish tourist Nandini (Revathi), whom they bet their fortunes on. It also stars Thilakan, Innocent, K. B. Ganesh Kumar, Sukumari, and Sharat Saxena, with Murali and Jagadish making cameo appearances. The music was composed by S. P. Venkatesh. Kilukkam was released on 15 August 1991. The film was the highest-grossing Malayalam film at that time and ran for more than 365-days at the theaters. Kilukkam won five Kerala State Film Awards, including Best Actor for Mohanlal, Second Best Actor for Jagathy Sreekumar, Best Editor for N. Gopalakrishnan, and Best Cinematographer for S. Kumar. The film is regarded as one of the best comedy films of Malayalam cinema. It was remade in Telugu as Allari Pilla and in Hindi as Muskurahat by Priyadarshan himself. Later, the film had a sequel Kilukkam Kilukilukkam (2006). The movie was reported to have been inspired by the 1953 American movie Roman Holiday.

The cinematography and editing were handled by N. K. Ekambaram and M. S. Ayyappan Nair and the story of the film is influenced by the basic threads of the 2011 Korean film Blind and the English film Cape Fear which itself was adapted from a novel.
