Adamstown Rosebud Football Club, an association football club based in Adamstown, New South Wales, Newcastle, was founded in 1889. [1] They became the second Newcastle member admitted into the National Soccer League in 1984 after the demise of Newcastle KB United. [2] The club's name was changed to Newcastle Rosebud United during their time in the National Soccer League before changing back to Adamstown Rosebud. The club's first team has competed in numerous nationally and internationally organised competitions, and all players who have played at least one match are listed below (in National Soccer League or NSL Cup).
Ralph Maier holds the record for the greatest number of appearances for Adamstown Rosebud. Between 1984 and 1986 the Australian defender played 79 times for the club. The club's goalscoring record is held by Derek Todd, who scored 15 goals in all competitions between 1984 and 1985.

Adamstown Rosebud is arguably the most famous football club in Newcastle and in 2019, the club entered its 130th year of competition, making the Rosebuds the oldest NPL club in Australia. To mark the occasion, the club wore a special commemorative strip that year, honouring its 130-year history and the Australian representatives the club has produced.

They were replaced by Newcastle Rosebud United after Round 5 of the 1984 National Soccer League. Newcastle Rosebud United finished 8th in their National Soccer League season and won the NSL Cup Final against Melbourne Knights.
The 1986 season was Newcastle Rosebud United's third and final season in the National Soccer League. Newcastle Rosebud United finished 6th in their National Soccer League season and were eliminated the NSL Cup second round against Sydney City.
