List of Alien (franchise) comics

Last updated

The Alien comic books are part of the Alien franchise and have had several titles published based on the license, most of which are part of the Dark Horse Comics line, but other comics by other distributors have been made. Marvel Comics obtained the license to the Aliens, Predator and Alien vs. Predator comics following the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by The Walt Disney Company. [1]

Alien: The Illustrated Story

Alien: The Illustrated Story is a critically acclaimed graphic novel adaptation of the original 1979 movie Alien , published by Heavy Metal magazine the same year. The creative team consisted of Archie Goodwin as the scriptwriter and Walt Simonson as the artist. It won the Harvey Award for Best Graphic Album of Previously Published Work in 2013.

Dark Horse Comics

Dark Horse Comics is the most well-known publisher of Aliens comics, having published many limited series from 1988 to 1999. Publishing took a hiatus until 2009. [2]

The stories often feature the company Weyland-Yutani and the United States Colonial Marines. Originally intended as a sequel to James Cameron's 1986 film Aliens, the first mini-series features the characters of Rebecca "Newt" Jorden and Corporal Dwayne Hicks. Later series also included the further adventures of Ellen Ripley, with other stories being unique to the Alien universe and are often used to explore other aspects of the species, such as their sociology and biology, and also tying into Dark Horse Comics' Predator and Aliens vs. Predator lines.

Mark Schultz is an American writer and illustrator of books and comics. His most widely recognized work is the creator-owned comic book series Xenozoic Tales, which describes a post-apocalyptic world where dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures coexist with humans. In 1993, Xenozoic Tales was adapted into an animated series titled Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and a video game of the same name. Schultz's other notable works include various Aliens comic book mini-series published by Dark Horse and a four-year run on the DC Comics series Superman: The Man of Steel. In 2004, Schultz took over the scripting duties of the Prince Valiant comic strip.

Jonathan Hickman is an American comic book writer and artist, best known for his creator-owned series The Nightly News, The Manhattan Projects and East of West, as well as his lengthy stints as a writer on Marvel's Fantastic Four, The Avengers and The New Avengers. Hickman's other notable work at Marvel includes the S.H.I.E.L.D. limited series, the creation of the Fantastic Four spin-off title FF, as well as two crossover limited series, Infinity and Secret Wars, both of which acted as centerpieces for the eponymous company-wide crossover storylines. Between 2019 and 2021, Hickman worked on "Dawn of X", a relaunch of various X-Men-related titles for which he provided the core storyline and concepts.

The Witcher is a comic book series that has been published by the American publisher Dark Horse Comics since 2014. It is based on The Witcher media franchise of CD Projekt.
