Köräş refers to a number of folk wrestling styles practiced in Central Asia. The English name comes from the term for "wrestling" in some Turkic language.

Kurash for the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games was held at the Ansan Sangnoksu Gymnasium. It took place from 4 to 6 July 2013. In the past, this sport was a demonstration one for Macau 2007. Like the sport of indoor kabaddi, Kurash was contested in both Hanoi and Bangkok separately in 2009 for medals.

Kurash competition at the 2016 Asian Beach Games was held in Da Nang, Vietnam from 25 to 27 September 2016 at Biển Đông Park.

Mansour Sarwari is an Afghan male Kurash practitioner who also practiced Judo and Sambo. He has competed at the 2015 World Judo Championships and took part in the men's +100kg event.

Behruzi Khojazoda is a Tajikistani male kurash practitioner as well as a judoka who has represented Tajikistan in several international competitive events.
