J-pop, natively also known simply as pops, is the name for a form of popular music that entered the musical mainstream of Japan in the 1990s. Modern J-pop has its roots in traditional music of Japan, and significantly in 1960s pop and rock music. J-pop replaced kayōkyoku, a term for Japanese popular music from the 1920s to the 1980s in the Japanese music scene.
Toshinobu "Toshi" Kubota is a Japanese singer, songwriter, musician, music producer, and radio personality. He has produced six million-seller records and thirty-three Top 40 singles during his career. Kubota is currently part of Sony Music Japan. In addition, he has composed and written songs for many singers including Hiromi Iwasaki, Misia, Toshinori Yonekura, Kyōko Koizumi, and many other recording artists.
Valenti is the second Japanese studio album by South Korean recording artist BoA, released through Avex Trax on January 29, 2003. The album's lyrics were written by multiple contributors including Natsumi Watanabe and Kenn Kato, with composition on the album handled by a team of composers including Kazuhiro Hara, Bounceback, Kosuke Morimoto, Ken Harada, and Akira. Valenti is a pop record containing influences from R&B and dance music, and is primarily recorded in Japanese with minor phrases in English.
Complete Best is the second English-language greatest hits album by Canadian singer Celine Dion, released exclusively in Japan on 27 February 2008. It reached number three on the Oricon Albums Chart, was certified Gold by the RIAJ and has sold 173,100 copies in Japan in 2008.
"Chameleon Army" is Pink Lady's tenth single release, and their ninth number 1 hit on the Oricon charts. The single sold approximately 1,250,000 copies, and spent six weeks at the top of the Oricon charts. This was their last consecutive number one hit.
Pink Lady is the fourth studio album by Japanese idol duo Pink Lady, released through Victor Entertainment on September 5, 1979, and through Elektra Records as their U.S. debut album on June 1, 1979. It was the duo's first and only English-language album, consisting of three original tracks. The lead single "Kiss in the Dark" Peaked at No. 37 on the Billboard Top 40 and at No. 19 on Oricon's weekly singles chart.
