Brianna Iris Davey is an Australian footballer in both the Association football (soccer) and Australian rules football codes. In soccer, she was a goalkeeper for the national women's team the Matildas and played in the W-League for Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City. In 2016, she transitioned from soccer to Australian rules football, and was one of two initial marquee recruits for the Carlton Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She won the inaugural Carlton best and fairest award and was named in the 2017 AFL Women's All-Australian team. Davey served as Carlton captain from 2018 to 2019 before being traded to the Collingwood Football Club. Cat Phillips is an Australian rules footballer, playing for Essendon in the AFL Women's competition. She was recruited by Melbourne as a category B rookie in October 2016. She made her debut in the fifteen point loss to Brisbane at Casey Fields in the opening round of the 2017 season. She played every match in her debut season to finish with seven games.

Alison Brown is an Australian rules footballer who plays for Melbourne in the AFL Women's competition (AFLW). She was recruited by Carlton as a free agent following the 2016 AFL Women's draft. She made her debut in Round 1, 2017, in the club and the league's inaugural match at Ikon Park against Collingwood. Brown finished 2017 having played in all seven possible matches with Carlton. She was subsequently delisted at season's end. On 29 January 2019, Brown was announced as the first AFLW signing for the St Kilda Football Club Women's Team, who officially entered the AFL Women's competition in 2020. In March 2021, St Kilda announced they delisted Brown after playing 11 matches for the club. In the 2021 AFL Women's draft, Melbourne drafted her with the 45th pick after she played 12 games for Casey Demons in the VFL Women's. She was educated at Caulfield Grammar School.

Matilda Lucas-Rodd is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Hawthorn Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She previously played for the Carlton Football Club from 2017 to 2019 and the St Kilda Football Club from 2020 to 2022. She has served as Hawthorn captain since season seven.

Kate Shierlaw is an Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the AFL Women's competition (AFLW). She was recruited by Carlton as a rookie player prior to the club's inaugural AFLW season in 2017. She made her debut in round 2, 2017, in a match against Greater Western Sydney at Ikon Park. Shierlaw did not miss a game from then on, finishing with six matches played in 2017. She was delisted by Carlton at the end of the 2018 season.

Guttridge was drafted by Collingwood with the club's second selection and the 9th pick overall in the 2018 AFL Women's draft. She made her debut in a loss to Carlton at Ikon Park in round 5 of the 2019 season. In April 2019, she departed the club and joined expansion side St Kilda. It was revealed Guttridge had signed on with the Saints for one more year on 30 June 2021, tying her to the club until the end of the 2021/2022 season.

Hannah Priest is an Australian rules footballer who plays for St Kilda in the AFL Women's (AFLW). It was revealed Priest had signed on with the Saints for two more years on 30 June 2021, tying her to the club until the end of the 2022/2023 season. After serving as co-captain during the 2021 season, Priest was named the Saints' sole captain in November 2021.

The 2022 AFL Women's season was the sixth season of the AFL Women's competition, the highest-level senior women's Australian rules football competition in Australia. It was the first of two seasons to take place in the 2022 calendar year, with the competition's upcoming seventh season set to run from August to November.

Meagan Kiely is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Richmond Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). Kiely was drafted by Richmond with their third selection and forty eighth overall in the 2021 AFL Women's draft. She made her debut against St Kilda at RSEA Park in the first round of the 2022 season.
