A century in cricket occurs when a batsman scores 100 runs or more in an innings, 23 Zimbabwe players have scored centuries in Test matches. [1]
In the sport of cricket, a century is a score of 100 or more runs in a single innings by a batsman. The term is also included in "century partnership" which occurs when two batsmen add 100 runs to the team total when they are batting together. A century is regarded as a landmark score for batsmen and a player's number of centuries is generally recorded in his career statistics. Scoring a century is loosely equivalent in merit to a bowler taking five wickets in an innings, and is commonly referred to as a ton or hundred. Scores of more than 200 runs are still statistically counted as a century, although these scores are referred as double, triple, and quadruple centuries, and so on.
Test cricket is the form of the sport of cricket with the longest duration, and is considered the game's highest standard. Test matches are played between national representative teams with "Test status", as determined and conferred by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The term Test stems from the fact of the form's long, gruelling matches being both mentally and physically testing. Two teams of 11 players each play a four-innings match, which may last up to five days. It is generally considered the most complete examination of a team's endurance and ability.
In cricket, a batter is not out if she or he comes out to bat in an innings and has not been dismissed by the end of the innings. The batter is also not out while his innings is still in progress.
Andrew Flower OBE is a South African born former Zimbabwean cricketer who captained the Zimbabwe national cricket team. He was Zimbabwe's wicket-keeper for more than 10 years and statistically by far the finest batsman the country has fielded.
Grant William Flower is a former Zimbabwean cricketer and a former ODI captain, who played Tests and ODIs. He is rated among the best Zimbabwean cricketers in history for his handy left arm spin and fine batting skills. He was a fitness fanatic who spends hours in the gym, and was also regarded as a brilliant fielder who was usually seen in the gully. "Flower Power", the combination of Grant and his brother Andy Flower, was the mainstay of Zimbabwean batting for a decade. He was his team's most successful opening batsman who played the role of anchorman, with strokeplayers coming in down the order.
