Mali, officially the Republic of Mali, is a landlocked country in West Africa. Mali is the eighth-largest country in Africa, with an area of over 1,240,000 square kilometres (480,000 sq mi). The population of Mali is 21.9 million. 67% of its population was estimated to be under the age of 25 in 2017. Its capital and largest city is Bamako. The sovereign state of Mali consists of ten regions and its borders on the north reach deep into the middle of the Sahara Desert. The country's southern part is in the Sudanian savanna, where the majority of inhabitants live, and both the Niger and Senegal rivers pass through. The country's economy centres on agriculture and mining. One of Mali's most prominent natural resources is gold, and the country is the third largest producer of gold on the African continent. It also exports salt.
The foreign relations of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania have, since 1960, been dominated by the issues of the Spanish Sahara and the recognition of its independence by its neighbours, particularly Morocco. Mauritania's foreign relations are handled by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, who is currently Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

Qin Gang is a Chinese diplomat and politician who has is currently a State Councilor of the People's Republic of China and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, making him China's second highest ranked diplomat after Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Politburo member Wang Yi. He previously served as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2018 to 2021 and most recently as Chinese Ambassador to the United States from 2021 to 2023.
In an attack on March 7, 2015, five people were shot dead and nine wounded in a restaurant on a busy street of Bamako, the capital of Mali. Two of those killed were Malians, and the others French and Belgian respectively.
The Embassy of Ghana in Bamako is the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Ghana to Mali. It also serves as the official residence of the Ghana ambassador to Mali.
