The ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the United States of America (Filipino : Sugo ng Republika ng Pilipinas sa Estados Unidos ng Amerika) is the Republic of the Philippines' foremost diplomatic representative in the United States of America. As head of the Philippines' diplomatic mission there, the ambassador is the official representative of the president and the government of the Philippines to the president and government of the United States. The position has the rank and status of an ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary and is based at the embassy located at the 1600 Massachusetts Avenue, Northwest in Washington D.C. within its Embassy Row. The Philippine ambassador to the United States is also accredited as non-resident ambassador to various Caribbean countries. [3]

Jose Lampe Cuisia Jr. is a Filipino banker, business executive, and diplomat. He was the seventh Governor of the Central Bank of the Philippines, serving from 1990 to 1993, and formerly the Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the United States of America. He is vice-chairman in the Philippine American Life and General Insurance Co., in which he had been CEO for a decade until its American owners, AIG, went bankrupt and had to sell out to Asian investors. He is also vice chairman of SM Prime Holdings.
