This is a list of artistic depictions of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the first president and founding leader of Bangladesh. [1]
The first artificial satellite launched by Bangladesh "Bangabandhu-1" has been named after Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Longest Bridge of Bangladesh Yamuna Multi-purpose Bridge has been renamed as “Bangabandhu Bridge”. Also, in 1998 AD, the national stadium of Bangladesh located in Gulistan, "Dhaka Stadium", was renamed as Bangabandhu Stadium. In 2009, China-Bangladesh Friendship Conference Center located at Agargaon, Sher Bangla Nagar, Dhaka was renamed as "Bangabandhu International Conference Center". [29] [30] In 2004, the name of "Bhasani Novo Theatre" was changed to "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre".
In 1998, Dhaka's "Institute of Post Graduate Medicine and Research" (IPGMR) was upgraded to a medical university and renamed as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. Soon after the independence of Bangladesh, the main road of Agrabad, the commercial area of Chittagong city, was renamed as "Sheikh Mujib Road" from "Jinnah Road". [31]
A bust of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was inaugurated in Ankara, Turkey, in December 2021 and a park was renamed after him. [32]
Two rooms of Baker Hostel (no. 23 and 24) were converted into a museum in honor of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father and the first president of Bangladesh. The museum was inaugurated on 31 July 1998. [33] On 23 February 2011, a bust of Mujib was installed in the hostel. [34]
In 2017, the All Bengal Minority Youth Federation criticized the decision and demanded that the bust of Bangabandhu be removed from the hostel as Islam does not allow the installation of idols in the building. The organization's general secretary Kamruzzaman found this act objectionable because a mosque is located inside the hostel. [35] The organization sent letters to Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal and Sheikh Hasina, the prime minister of Bangladesh, regarding the matter. In March, the month before Sheikh Hasina's visit to India, the central government of India had directed the West Bengal government to take action against the organization and its supporters, who it termed as anti-Hasina extremist groups. Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister of Bangladesh, Md. Tajul Islam, visited the museum in March 2019 and found defects in the bust, which was replaced by a new bust on August 3. [37]
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, popularly known by the honorific Bangabandhu, was a Bangladeshi politician, revolutionary, statesman, activist and diarist, who was the founding leader of Bangladesh. As the leader of Bangladesh, he had held continuous positions either as Bangladesh's president or as its prime minister from April 1971 until his assassination in August 1975. His nationalist ideology, socio-political theories, and political doctrines are collectively known as Mujibism.
Sheikh Hasina is a Bangladeshi politician who served as the tenth prime minister of Bangladesh from June 1996 to July 2001 and again from January 2009 to August 2024. She is the daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the first president of Bangladesh. She served in the position of prime minister for over 20 years, making her the longest-serving prime minister in history of Bangladesh. Thus, she became the world's longest-serving female head of government. Her authoritarian regime ended in self-imposed exile following an uprising in 2024.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the first president of Bangladesh, was assassinated along with most of his family members during the early hours of 15 August 1975 by a group of Bangladesh Army personnel who invaded his residence as part of a coup d'état. The Minister of Commerce, Khondaker Mostaq Ahmad, immediately took control and proclaimed himself head of an interim government from 15 August to 6 November 1975; he was in turn succeeded by Chief Justice Abu Sayem. The assassination marked the first direct military intervention in Bangladesh's civilian administration. Lawrence Lifschultz characterized this incident as an outcome of the Cold War between the United States-influenced Pakistan and the Soviet Union-influenced India. 15 August is annually observed as National Mourning Day, a commemorative day in Bangladesh.

Begum Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, commonly known as Begum Mujib; and also known by her nickname Renu, was the wife of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the first President of Bangladesh. She is the mother of Sheikh Hasina, the leader of the Awami League from 2009-2024. She was killed along with her husband.
Sheikh Rehana Siddiq is a Bangladesh Awami League politician. She is the younger sister of the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the daughter of the first President of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. She is also the mother of Tulip Siddiq, a British Labour Party politician and elected Member of Parliament and City Minister.
Tungipara Sheikh family of Tungipara is one of the two most prominent Bangladeshi political families, other being the Zia family. The family primarily consists of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana and their relatives. Their political involvement has traditionally revolved around the Bangladesh Awami League.
Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, also known as Bangabandhu Bhaban or Dhanmondi 32, located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, Bangladesh, was the personal residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who was also called Bangabandhu, the founding leader and president of Bangladesh. Mujib was assassinated with most members of his family in this residence. The museum was listed as a national heritage site in 2009 by RAJUK and was largely damaged in a mob violence in 2024.
Sheikh Lutfur Rahman was a Bangladeshi serestadar, an officer responsible for record-keeping at the Gopalganj civil court in British India. His son Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the first president of Bangladesh. Lutfar was also the paternal grandfather of Sheikh Hasina.
Mujib Year, also known as Mujib Hundred, was the year declared to celebrate on the occasion of the centennial birth anniversary of the founding leader of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Baker Hostel is a government hostel located in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The hostel was founded in 1910 during the rule of the British Raj by Edward Norman Baker, the then Lieutenant Governor of Bengal. The hostel is located at 8 Smith Lane in Taltala. It is for the male students of Maulana Azad College.
Mujib: The Making of a Nation, is a 2023 epic biographical film based on the life of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father and first president of Bangladesh who is popularly known as Bangabandhu. A co-production between Bangladesh and India, the film was directed by Shyam Benegal and stars Arifin Shuvoo in the titular role.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Road is a street situated in Lutyens' Delhi at the centre of New Delhi, capital of India. The road was formerly named Park Street. The name was changed by New Delhi Municipal Council as a "friendly gesture" towards Bangladesh. The road is named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Founding Father of Bangladesh. The newly renamed road was opened by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 April 2017.
Chironjeeb Mujib is a 2021 Bangladeshi Bengali-language biographical film directed by Nazrul Islam who is script writer of Prime minister of Bangladesh. It stars Ahmed Rubel as Bangabandhu, the first President of Bangladesh and Father of the Nation. The film is based on a portion of The Unfinished Memoirs, written by Bangabandhu, which states his life from 1949 to 1952.
"Jodi Raat Pohale Shona Jeto" is a song from the 1991 Bangladeshi music album named Jonotar Nouka. The lyricist of this modern music was Hasan Motiur Rahman. Moloy Kumar Ganguly composed sang originally this song to the tune with music arrangement of Almas Ali. The song is considered to be the most popular song about Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The song was released under label of Chenasur along with other songs from the audio album.
The Mausoleum of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the mausoleum of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding leader and the first president of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. It is located in Tungipara of Gopalganj district, the birthplace of Mujib, and was designed by architects Ehsan Khan, Ishtiaque Jahir and Iqbal Habib.
Mujib Amar Pita is a 2021 Bangladeshi animated biography drama film. It was the first full-length Bangladeshi animated film. The film was directed by Sohel Mohammad Rana. It was Produced by Prolancer Studio & BMIT Solutions and was distributed by ICT Division. The film is based on Sheikh Mujib Amar Pita a book written by Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the recent Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The film was released on October 1, 2021.
Khoka Theke Bangabandhu Jatir Pita is a 2021 Bangladeshi full-length animated feature film, based on the life of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father and first President of Bangladesh. The film was produced by AGAMiLabs and directed by Md. Hanif Seddiqui. The film is based on national textbooks including Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's The Unfinished Memoirs, The Prison Diaries and his daughter Sheikh Hasina's book Sheikh Mujib Amar Pita. The film shows Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's childhood, his relationship with the land and people of Bengal, his mind and interaction with the world around him.
