The Tiourarén Formation is a geological formation in the Agadez Region of Niger whose strata were originally thought to be Early Cretaceous. However, re-interpretation of the sediments showed that they are probably Middle-Late Jurassic (Bathonian-Oxfordian) in age. It is the uppermost unit of the Irhazer Group. Dinosaur remains are among the fossils that have been recovered from the formation.

The Shungura Formation is a stratigraphic formation located in the Omo river basin in Ethiopia. It dates to the Late Pliocene to Early Pleistocene. Oldowan tools have been found in the formation, suggesting early use of stone tools by hominins. Among many others, fossils of Panthera were found in Member G of the formation.

The Irhazer Shale or Irhazer II Formation is a Middle Jurassic geologic formation of the Irhazer Group in the Agadez Region of Niger. Fossil ornithopod tracks have been reported from the formation. The dinosaur Spinophorosaurus is known from the formation.

The Luxembourg Sandstone is a geologic formation in Luxembourg. It exists along the eastern margin of the Paris Basin. Sandstone units continuous with the Luxembourg Sandstone also occur in France. It is Early Jurassic in age. It predominantly outcrops in a belt extending through south-central Luxembourg. It up to 100 metres thick and predominantly consists of carbonaceous poorly cemented sandstone and sandy limestone

The Seca Formation is a Late Eocene geologic formation of the Progreso Basin in southwestern Ecuador. The shales of the formation have provided fossils of the marine snake Pterosphenus sheppardi.
