Since Bellerive Oval hosted its first Test match in 1989, 33 Test centuries have been made at the ground.

Bellerive Oval, also known by its sponsored name Blundstone Arena, is a cricket ground in Hobart, Australia. [2] It is the home of the Tasmania cricket team [3] and the Hobart Hurricanes (a Twenty20 team in the Big Bash League), [4] as well as being a Test, One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) venue. [5] It has a capacity of 16,000 spectators. [2] As of December 2015, the ground has hosted 12 Test matches, the first in 1989 when Australia hosted Sri Lanka. [6] It has also staged 34 ODI matches, the first of which was in 1988 when New Zealand lost to Sri Lanka by four wickets. [7] As of October 2014, two T20Is have been played at the ground. [8] The first was in 2010 when Australia beat the West Indies by 38 runs; [8] the second was in 2014, when Australia defeated England by 13 runs. [8]

The first Test century (100 or more runs in a single innings) scored at the ground was by Australian Mark Taylor in the third innings of the first Test match against Sri Lanka in 1989. [9] In the same innings Dean Jones and Steve Waugh also scored centuries. [10] As of December 2015, 31 Test centuries have been scored at the ground in 12 Test matches. [1] As of December 2015, Adam Voges 269*, scored against West Indies in 2015, is the highest Test innings achieved at the ground and only the second double century (200 or more runs in a single innings) in this ground, after Ricky Ponting's 209, against Pakistan in 2010. [1] The highest Test score by an overseas player is 192 by the Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara in 2007. [1] Michael Hussey has scored three Test centuries at the ground, the most by any batsman. [11]

In the second ODI ever at Bellerive Oval, [7] West Indian Desmond Haynes scored the first century at the venue with a score of 101 runs from 112 balls against Pakistan in 1988. [12] In 35 ODIs, a total of 25 centuries have been scored. [12] As of October 2014, the highest ODI score at the ground is 172, scored by Adam Gilchrist, an Australian wicket-keeper. [12] The top scoring non-Australian is Sri Lankan Tillakaratne Dilshan, who scored 160 runs. [12] Dilshan and fellow Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara are the only players to have scored two ODI centuries at Bellerive Oval. [13] The top T20I score at the ground is 103* by Australian Glenn Maxwell in 2018. [14]

The Sri Lanka men's national cricket team, nicknamed The Lions, represents Sri Lanka in men's international cricket. Damien Richard Martyn is an Australian cricket commentator and former cricketer, who played Tests and ODIs. He played for the national team sporadically in 1992–1994 before becoming a regular ODI player from 1999 to 2000 and a regular Test player in 2000 until his retirement in late 2006. He was primarily a right-handed middle-order batsman with a 'classical' technique, known in particular for his elegant strokemaking square of the wicket on the off-side and through the covers. Martyn was a member of the Australian team that won two consecutive world titles in a row: the 1999 Cricket World Cup, the 2003 Cricket World Cup, as well as being a member of the team that won the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy.

Michael Edward Killeen Hussey is an Australian cricket coach, commentator and former international cricketer, who played all forms of the game. Hussey is also widely known by his nickname 'Mr Cricket'. Hussey was a relative latecomer to both the one-day international and Test Australian teams, debuting at 28 and 30 years of age in the respective formats, with 15,313 first-class runs before making his Test debut. With his time representing Australia, Hussey won multiple ICC titles with the team: the 2007 Cricket World Cup, the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy, and the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy.
