[1] Published weekly by Billboard magazine, the data are compiled by Nielsen SoundScan based on each single's weekly digital sales, which combines sales of different versions of a song by an act for a summarized figure.

It was introduced in the issue dated January 23, 2010 and merges all versions of a song sold from digital music distributors. Its data was incorporated in the Hot Latin Songs chart on October 22, 2012.

Nielsen SoundScan is an information and sales tracking system created by Mike Fine and Mike Shalett in 1991. SoundScan is a method of tracking sales of music and music video products throughout the United States and Canada. Data is collected weekly and made available every Sunday and every Monday to subscribers, which include record companies, publishing firms, music retailers, independent promoters, film and TV companies, and artist managers. The Nielsen SoundScan is the sales source for the Billboard music charts, making it the largest source of sales records in the music industry.

The Latin Rhythm Airplay chart comprises singles and tracks from artists who represent the Hispanic rhythmic/Hurban genre, which includes Reggaeton, Hispanic R&B/Hip-Hop, Rhythmic Pop/Dance and crossovers from English-language and/or bilingual acts. This chart was introduced in 2005 and came about as a result of radio stations tapping into the growing second and third generation Hispanic audience who wanted a Spanish-speaking or bilingual alternative to the formats that they felt would represent them. The chart goes through a rotation and is posted every other week taking place of the Latin Tropical Airplay.
Puerto Rican rapper, songwriter and producer Daddy Yankee has released seven studio albums, two live albums, thirty-four singles, and one soundtrack. He made his debut on DJ Playero's Playero 34 mixtape, released in 1991. He was later featured on Playero's 37 and 38 albums, before releasing his first solo record in 1995, titled No Mercy. During the rest of the 1990s, he continued working on underground reggaeton records and released his first album as producer El Cartel de Yankee in 1997. After the release of his 2001 independent album El Cartel II: Los Cangris, he released his second studio album, El Cangri.com, in June 2002. It is cited as the record that made him notorious outside his natal Puerto Rico, being his music introduced in New York City and Miami. Without any major label backing him, El Cangri.com managed to peak at number 43 on the US Top Latin Albums chart. A track from the album, "Brugal Mix", became his first Billboard chart entry by peaking at number 40 on the US Tropical Songs chart in November 2002.

El Disco Duro is the upcoming seventh studio album by Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee, originally scheduled to be released during early 2017. Its original title was King Daddy II: Elemento DY, a sequel to his previous album King Daddy, produced by Los De La Nazza, a production duo that worked with Daddy Yankee from 2007 to 2014. The album will include "Sígueme y Te Sigo", "Vaivén" and "Shaky Shaky" as its singles, which were released between March 2015 and April 2016. Its release date is yet to be announced.
"Despacito" is a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi featuring Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee from Fonsi's 2019 studio album Vida. On January 12, 2017, Universal Music Latin released "Despacito" and its music video, which shows both artists performing the song in La Perla neighborhood of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico and the local bar La Factoría. The song was written by Fonsi, Erika Ender, and Daddy Yankee, and was produced by Mauricio Rengifo and Andrés Torres. Unstoppable is the debut studio album by Colombian singer Karol G, released on October 27, 2017 by Universal Music Latin Entertainment. It features guest appearances from Cosculluela, Bad Bunny, Kevin Roldán, Ozuna and Quavo. Meanwhile, the album's production was handled primarily by Ovy On The Drums, alongside Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengifo. The album was preceded by four singles, "Casi Nada", "Hello", "A Ella" and "Ahora Me Llama", with Bad Bunny. Upon its release, the album debuted at number 192 on the Billboard 200 and number two on both the Billboard Top Latin Albums and Billboard Latin Rhythm Albums charts, with 3,000 copies sold in its first week.
