The BillboardTop Latin Albums chart, published by Billboard magazine, is a record chart that ranks the performance of Latin music albums in the United States. The data is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan from a sample that includes music stores, music departments at electronics and department stores, Internet sales (both physical and digital) and verifiable sales from concert venues in the United States. [1] On the week ending January 31, 2017, Billboard updated the methodology to compile the Top Latin Albums chart into a multi-metric methodology to include track equivalent album units and streaming equivalent album units. [2]
The first number-one album of the decade was Dos Mundos: Evolución by Mexican singer Alejandro Fernández. The following number-one album was The Last by Aventura, which spent six non-consecutive weeks at the top of the chart in 2010 and ended the year as the best-selling Latin album in the United States. [3] Euphoria , a bilingual album released by Spanish singer-songwriter Enrique Iglesias, peaked at number ten in the Billboard 200 chart and spent eleven weeks at the top of the Latin Albums chart. Iglesias earned the Latin Artist of the Year award at the 2011 Billboard Latin Music Awards, a category that combines both sales and airplay, while the aforementioned album won for Latin Album and Latin Pop Album of the Year. [4] Also in 2010, Poquita Ropa by Guatemalan performer Ricardo Arjona debuted atop the chart and also peaked at number one in Mexico. [5] That same year, Mexican singer-songwriter Marco Antonio Solís reached the top of the chart for the tenth time with his studio album En Total Plenitud , the most for any performer. The album received four nominations for the 12th Latin Grammy Awards. [6]
Ricky Martin gained his sixth number-one album on the chart, Música + Alma + Sexo , in February 2011. The album also reached a peak of number three on the Billboard 200. [7] In 2011, Mexican singer Gerardo Ortíz peaked for the first time at number one in the chart with the live album Morir y Existir: En Vivo , two weeks after surviving an ambush attempt in Mexico that left his cousin and business manager dead. [8] Ortíz reached number one for the second time with the album Entre Dios y el Diablo , also in 2011. [9] One notable feat that year was accomplished by Latin pop star Prince Royce, whose self-titled debut album reached the top of the chart 58 weeks after its release. [10] Likewise in 2011, Mexican rock band Maná debuted atop the chart with their eight studio album Drama y Luz , while its lead single "Lluvia al Corazón" also debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. Edgar Ricardo Arjona Morales, known as Ricardo Arjona, is a Guatemalan singer and songwriter. He is one of the most successful and best-selling Latin American artists of all time, with more than 20 million records sold. His music ranges from ballads to Latin pop, rock, pop rock, Cuban music, and more recently a cappella performances and a mixture of Tejano music and Norteño music, and Latin sounds. Arjona is noted for his lyrical style, and often addresses topics such as love, sexuality, violence, racism and immigration.
Desde un Principio: From the Beginning is a greatest hits album from American recording artist Marc Anthony. The album was released on November 9, 1999, by RMM Records & Video (RMM). It was a result of Anthony leaving RMM Records and signing on with Columbia Records. The recording contains fourteen tracks from his years with RMM and "No Me Ames" by Jennifer Lopez and Anthony.
Adentro is the tenth studio album by Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona, released on December 6, 2005, by Sony Music Entertainment. Recorded in the United States and Mexico, the album was produced by Arjona himself, as well as Dan Warner and Lee Levin, Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Tommy Torres, and long-time collaborator Carlos Cabral Jr. The album marks the first collaboration between Arjona and Cabral, who would subsequently become a regular contributor in following albums by the singer.
5to Piso is the eleventh studio album by Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona, released on 18 November 2008. Produced by Arjona, Jorge Amaro, Dan Warner, Lee Levin, Fernando de Santiago and Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Tommy Torres, the album was recorded in various studios between the United States and Mexico. It is the first release by the artist under Warner Music. Arjona commented that with this album, he "tried to recoup some of the freshness" of his past releases, stating that "it makes good to the songs". Jason Birchmeier from Allmusic named it "an eagerly awaited album with a phenomenal lead single." 5to Piso marks the third album in which the singer collaborates with Tommy Torres, after Adentro and Quién Dijo Ayer.
Poquita Ropa is the twelfth studio album by Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona. It was released on August 24, 2010, through Warner Music, and was recorded in Mexico City, New York City, and Los Angeles. The album was produced by Lee Levin and Dan Warner, under their production name “Los Sobaquina”, with additional works from Matt Rollings and Brian Lang.
Simplemente Lo Mejor is a greatest hits album by Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona that was released on December 2, 2008. The album is composed of Arjona's number-one hits, drawn from Animal Nocturno (1993) to Galería Caribe (2000). It served as his final project under the Sony Music label after signing a contract with Warner Music in 2008. A CD+DVD and a DVD edition of the album were released in several countries; these included a collection of music videos for the compilation's songs.
"No Me Digas Que No" is a song performed by Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias taken from his first bilingual studio album, Euphoria. It was produced by Carlos Paucar and Reggaeton producers Nesty "La Mente Maestra" and Victor "El Nasi". It featured Reggaeton Duó Wisin & Yandel. It was released digitally on 22 June 2010 as the second promotional Spanish single. The song hit the radio stations officially on 19 October 2010. It is the third collaborations between the artists after the remix versions of Lloro Por Tí and Gracias a Ti. The song peaked at number-one on the US Billboard Hot Latin Songs, becoming Enrique's twenty-second song to peak at number-one on the chart.
Gloria is the eighth studio album by Mexican singer-songwriter Gloria Trevi. It was released on March 22, 2011 by Universal Music Latin, after a four-year gap since the release of her last studio album, Una Rosa Blu. Trevi worked as co-writer for the album tracks, while Armando Avila, Sebastián Jácome, Dr. Luke and Cirkut worked as the record producers. The themes of the songs are her personal feelings, female empowerment, survival and romantic love.
"Fruta Fresca" is a vallenato song written and performed by Colombian recording artist Carlos Vives and produced by Emilio Estefan and Juan Vicente Zambrano as the lead single from his studio album El Amor de Mi Tierra (1999). The song incorporates the sound of Latin pop and Colombian vallenato music. In the song, he compares his lover's kisses to fresh fruit. The track was well received by critics who praised the production of the record. "Fruta Fresca" became Vives' first number-one hit on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. It is recognized as one of his signature songs.
Independiente is the thirteenth Spanish-language studio album by Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona, released on 23 September 2011. Recorded in the United States and Mexico, it was produced by Arjona with Dan Warner, Carlos Cabral "Junior", Lee Levin and Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Tommy Torres. The album—the first independent release by Arjona after he was signed by Sony Music in 1993 and Warner Music in 2008—was issued by his own label, Metamorfosis.
Guatemalan recording artist Ricardo Arjona has released 15 studio albums, sixteen compilation albums, two live albums, forty-five singles and two promotional singles. Despite this decision, Arjona returned and released Jesús, Verbo No Sustantivo in 1988. En Primera Fila is the third live album by Venezuelan recording artist Franco De Vita. It was released by Sony Music on May 31, 2011, after a three-year gap since the release of De Vita's last studio album. De Vita worked as producer with David Cabrera. The album is part of the live albums series entitled Primera Fila, promoted by the record label and including De Vita's greatest hits on re-worked versions and new songs.

"Puente" is a latin pop song by Guatemalan recording artist Ricardo Arjona, released on August 9, 2010 as the lead single from his twelfth studio album, Poquita Ropa (2010). The song was written by Arjona, who produced it with longtime collaborators Dan Warner and Lee Levin under their stage name Los Gringos. Two versions of the song were made, one of them being a mixture of salsa, merengue along with Cuban music influences; and the other an acoustic version made with piano and percussion.

El Ejemplo is a studio album by Regional Mexican band Los Tigres del Norte. It was released by Fonovisa Records on May 2, 1995, and includes fourteen tracks written by Teodoro Bello and Enrique Valencia, which span song styles such as ballads, boleros, corridos, cumbias and rancheras.
Joyas Prestadas: Pop and Joyas Prestadas: Banda are the 11th studio albums by recording artist Jenni Rivera, released on November 21, 2011, by Fonovisa Records. Joyas Prestadas consists of a double album with eleven cover songs, each recorded with two distinct styles of music. The first half being recorded in pop, while the second was recorded in the Regional Mexican subgenre of banda. The album was produced by Enrique Martinez. According to Rivera, the songs she chose to cover were those she was enamored with while working as a cashier in a record store.
"Detrás de Mi Ventana" is a Latin pop song by Mexican recording artist Yuri from her studio album Nueva Era (1993). The track was written by Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona. It was released as the lead single in Latin America and the United States, peaking atop the Billboard's Latin Songs chart, becoming the third number-one song in the chart for the singer and the first for Arjona as a songwriter.
"Vuélveme a Querer" is a song written and produced by Jorge Avendaño Lührs and performed by Mexican recording artist Cristian Castro for the compilation album Boleros: Por Amor y Desamor (1995). The song speaks of a protagonist who yearns for his lover to return. In the United States, the song peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs and number one on the Billboard Latin Pop Songs chart. It received a Billboard Latin Music Award and a Lo Nuestro nomination for Pop Song of the Year the following year. Avendaño received an award in the Pop/Rock category at the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Awards of 1997
