The Billboard Top Latin albums chart, published in Billboard magazine, is a record chart that features Latin music sales information. This data are compiled by Nielsen SoundScan from a sample that includes music stores, music departments at electronics and department stores, Internet sales (both physical and digital) and verifiable sales from concert venues in the United States. There were thirteen number-one albums on this chart in 2006. The best-selling Latin album was Barrio Fino en Directo by Daddy Yankee. This album debuted at number 24 in the Billboard 200 in the last week of 2005; it spent 13 weeks at the top of the chart, more than any other number-one albums in the chart. [2] [3] Now Latino also peaked at number one, spending seven non-consecutive weeks at this position; this compilation album includes music by Aventura, Don Omar, Juanes, La 5ª Estación, Kumbia Kings, Chayanne, Wisin & Yandel, Bebe, Ricardo Arjona, Luis Fonsi, Thalía, Alexis & Fido, Zion & Lennox, Angel & Khriz, Cristian Castro, Reik, Sin Bandera and Alejandro Fernández. MTV Unplugged by Ricky Martin spent one week at the top of the chart on November 22, 2006, and won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Album; [5] this album was replaced at number one by Navidades by Luis Miguel, an album that received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Latin Pop Vocal Album. [6] With the highest charting debut by a reggaeton artist, Don Omar's King of Kings entered at number seven on the Billboard 200 with 68,000 units sold. This album also peaked at number one for 11 weeks on this chart. [7]
Mexican rock band Maná, with his first studio album since 2002, Amar Es Combatir , entered the Billboard 200 at number four, making it the highest-charting debut for a Spanish-language album for a duo or group. [8] With 30,000 units sold in its first week, Paulina Rubio debuted at number 25 in the Billboard 200 and achieved her third number-one album on this chart with Ananda , after her albums Paulina and Pau-Latina accomplished it in 2001 and 2004, respectively. [9] Luny Tunes and Tainy with Mas Flow: Los Benjamins and Héctor el Father with Los Rompe Discotekas peaked at number one for the first time in their careers. With Trozos de Mi Alma, Vol. 2 , singer-songwriter Marco Antonio Solís peaked at number one for the sixth time in his career. [10]

The Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance was an honor presented at the Grammy Awards, a ceremony established in 1958 and originally called the Gramophone Awards, to female recording artists for quality R&B songs. Awards in several categories are distributed annually by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States to "honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regard to album sales or chart position."
Barrio Fino en Directo is the second live album by Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee, released on December 13, 2005, by El Cartel Records and distributed by Interescope Records. The album is a live collection of songs from Daddy Yankee's previous album Barrio Fino recorded during his tour Barrio Fino World Tour at several locations including the United States, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. It was the first Daddy Yankee album to had a Parental Advisory sticker and first and only album to include a skit. It also includes a DVD featuring interviews, concerts and the making of the music videos. A re-release of the album, Tormenta Tropical, Vol. 1, was released on July 4, 2006. It includes all of the new recorded songs, and two of the live tracks from the album. The album differs from Barrio Fino en Directo because it does not include a DVD.
Amar Es Combatir is the seventh studio album released by the Mexican pop rock band Maná. The album, which was released on August 22, 2006, became the band's first release in four years.
"La Derrota" is the title of a song written and produced by Mexican singer-songwriter Joan Sebastian and recorded by Mexican performer Vicente Fernández. It was released as the second single from Fernández's 79th studio album Para Siempre.
"Qué Te Pasa" is a dance song written by J.R. Florez and Gian Pietro DiFelissati, produced by Felissatti and performed by Mexican singer Yuri. It was released in 1987 as the first single from her seventh studio album Aire (1987), and became her first number-one single in the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart and won the Lo Nuestro Award for Pop Song of the Year in 1989.

The Barrio Fino World Tour was a concert tour by reggaeton singer Daddy Yankee to promote his third studio album, Barrio Fino (2004). This was his first large tour and his first arena tour in the United States becoming the first reggaeton act to do so. The tour visited Latin America and United States and consisted of three legs. In December 2005, Yankee released Barrio Fino en Directo with featured videos and songs recorded live on this tour. Also, contained a DVD with footage of the tour in Colombia, Puerto Rico, Ecuador and Dominican Republic.
