<span class="mw-page-title-main">Parliament of Uganda</span> Uganda legislature

The Parliament of Uganda is the country's unicameral legislative body. The most significant of the Ugandan parliament's functions is to pass laws that will provide good governance in the country. The government ministers are bound to answer to the people's representatives on the floor of the house. Through the various parliamentary committees, parliament scrutinises government programmes, particularly as outlined in the State of the Nation address by the president. The fiscal issues of the government, such as taxation and loans need the sanction of the parliament, after appropriate debate. Parliament must confirm some Presidential nominations and may force a Minister to resign by passing a motion of censure.

Tarsis Bazana Kabwegyere is a Ugandan sociologist, academic and politician. He is a former minister of general duties in the Ugandan cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 23 May 2013. From 15 August 2012 until 23 May 2013, he was the minister of gender, labour and social affairs. At first, the parliamentary committee vetting cabinet appointments rejected his selection, but after discussions between President Yoweri Museveni and Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, he was finally approved on 7 September 2012. Earlier, he was the minister of disaster relief and planning in the Ugandan cabinet, from 1 June 2006 until 27 May 2011. In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, he was dropped from the cabinet and replaced by Stephen Mallinga. He was also the elected member of parliament representing Igara County West, Bushenyi District, from 1996 until 2011.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Edward Ssekandi</span> Ugandan lawyer and politician

Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi is a Ugandan politician and lawyer who served as the eighth vice president of Uganda from 24 May 2011 to 21 June 2021. Prior to that, he served as the Speaker of Parliament from 2001 to 2011. He served as Member of Parliament for Bukoto County Central constituency from 1996 to 2021.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Rebecca Kadaga</span> Ugandan lawyer and politician

Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga is a Ugandan lawyer and politician who served as the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda from 19 May 2011 until 21 May 2021. She currently serves as the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda. She concurrently serves as Minister for East African Community Affairs, in the Cabinet of Uganda.

Laetitia Eulalia Mary Mukasa Kikonyogo, was a Ugandan lawyer and judge. Prior to her retirement from the bench, she was a member of the Court of Appeal of Uganda, which also doubles as Uganda's Constitutional Court. While there, she served at the rank of Deputy Chief Justice of Uganda. Her first name is sometimes spelled as Leticia or as Letitia.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Jacob Oulanyah</span> Ugandan lawyer and politician (1965–2022)

Jacob L'Okori Oulanyah was a Ugandan agricultural economist, lawyer, and politician, who served as the Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda from 2021 to 2022. He was elected to that position on 24 May 2021, after defeating his tenacious rival the then incumbent Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga. He served as Deputy Speaker of the Ugandan parliament, from May 2011 until May 2021. Oulanyah was also the member of parliament representing the Omoro County constituency, Omoro District, Acholi sub-region, in the Uganda's Northern Region.

Persis Princess Namuganza is a Ugandan politician and the State Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development (Lands) in the Cabinet of Uganda. She was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. Namuganza concurrently serves as the elected representative of Bukono County in Namutumba District, in the 11th Parliament (2021–2026).

Angelline Asio Osegge, also known as Angelina Osege is a Ugandan social worker and politician, who serves as the incumbent Member of Parliament representing the Soroti District Women Constituency in the 10th Ugandan Parliament. She is the chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee for the Central Government. She belongs to Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Anna Ebaju Adeke</span> Ugandan lawyer and politician

Anna Ebaju Adeke is a Ugandan lawyer and politician. Currently she serves as the Member of Parliament representing Women in Soroti District in the 11th Parliament (2021–2026). She previously served as the parliamentary representative of the National Female Youth Constituency in the 10th parliament (2016–2021). She serves as the Deputy President for Forum for Democratic Change in Eastern Region.

Judith Nalule Nabakooba is a Ugandan politician and former policewoman. She is currently the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, in the Cabinet of Uganda. She was appointed to that position on 8 June 2021.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Anita Among</span> Ugandan lawyer, accountant and politician, Speaker of the 11th Parliament 2022-2026

Anita Annet Among is a Ugandan accountant, lawyer and politician who is the Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda since 2022. She also concurrently serves as the elected member of parliament for the Bukedea District Women Constituency, the same position she held in the 10th Parliament (2016–2021). She was in FDC party before she joined the ruling NRM where she was voted as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th Parliament. She is named in the torture complaint against the Ugandan government that was submitted with the International Criminal Court.

Ssekikubo Theodore in Ssembabule, is a Ugandan politician. He represents Lwemiyaga County, Sembabule District in the Parliament of Uganda.

Sarah Babirye Kityo is a Ugandan Politician and the former elected Youth Representative for Central Region in Uganda's 10th Parliament. She is a member of the National Resistance Movement on whose ticket she ran on in the 2016 Ugandan general election defeating Arthur Katongole, an independent candidate. She is also the current president for the Uganda Netball Federation, a position she assumed in 2021 and serving up to 2025.

St. Joseph's College Layibi is a boys-only boarding middle and high school located in the city of Gulu, Gulu District in the Northern Region of Uganda.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Thomas Tayebwa</span> Ugandan lawyer and politician

Thomas Tayebwa is a member of the Parliament of Uganda since 2016, and has served as Deputy Speaker of the Parliament since 2022. He was appointed as the Government Chief Whip by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Since 2016, he serves as the Member of Parliament for Ruhinda North County in Mitooma District and a member of NRM. He became known for beating a UMEME employee on a leaked video, for which he apologized on 29 August 2020. He served as a member of National Economy Committee and Natural Resources Committee. On 25 March 2022, he was elected by fellow MPs as the Deputy Speaker of Uganda's 11th Parliament, taking over from Among who moved up to be the Speaker of the Parliament, all events following the death of Speaker Jacob Oulanyah.

Jovanice Twinobusingye is a Ugandan politician, legislator and woman representative member of parliament for Kiruhura District in the eleventh Parliament of Uganda. She is a member of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). She sits on the Parliamentary Committee on Public Service and Local Government which is chaired by Hon. Onzima Godfrey.
