Ota is a town in Ogun State, Nigeria with an estimated 163,783 residents. Ota is the capital of the Ado–Odo/Ota Local Government Area. The traditional leader of Ota is the Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi AbdulKabir Obalanlege. Historically, Ota is the capital of the Awori Yoruba tribe.

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic also known as MAPOLY is a tertiary learning institution in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. The Ojere campus is in the South-Eastern part of Abeokuta, covering about 960 hectares of rolling land bounded by the Ogun River to the south. It is named after Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, who was elected President of Nigeria in 1993, but prevented from taking office. Following the death of Chief MKO Abiola, the Polytechnic’s greatest benefactor in 1998, the Institution was renamed Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.

Jubilee Christian Church International has its headquarters in Abeokuta. The Anglican church is present in Ogun State. The town of Ota has a tract of land known as Canaanland, which includes the church of the name Faith Tabernacle and Covenant University. Crawford University and Seventh-day Adventist Babcock University are present in the state. Western Diocese of Salem International Christian Centre has its seat in the state. The Redeemed Christian Church of God owns Redeemer's University. Christ International Divinity College (CINDICO) has its seat in the state.

Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences is a training polytechnic for health care in Ilese-Ijebu, Ogun State, Nigeria. It was the first state college established in Ogun State. As well as providing health technology training and certification, it is a major factor in both increasing the population and enhancing the status of Ilese, a town on the outskirts of Ijebu Ode.

The Lagos - Abeokuta Expressway is an 81-kilometre-long (50 mi) expressway connecting Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, and Ikeja, the capital of Lagos, Nigeria's largest city. The Lagos - Abeokuta expressway is Nigeria busiest highway, linking people living in metropolitan and greater Lagos, as well as people from outside the state. This expressway is the busiest inter-state and intra-city route in Nigeria and handles more than 250,000 PCUs daily and constitutes one of the largest road networks in Africa. It is part of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) projects, concerned with road improvement and connectivity between the States of Nigeria.

The 2023 Nigerian presidential election in Ogun State was held on 25 February 2023 as part of the nationwide 2023 Nigerian presidential election to elect the president and vice president of Nigeria. Other federal elections, including elections to the House of Representatives and the Senate, will also be held on the same date while state elections will be held two weeks afterward on 11 March.
