The name "Parndon" means 'Hill growing with pear trees'. [2] Parndon was recorded in the Domesday Book as Perenduna/Perendinduna. [3] Little Parndon was in Harlow hundred. [4] In 1894 Little Parndon became part of Epping Rural District, on 1 April 1946 the parish was abolished and merged with Netteswell. Little Parndon was a ward, in 1961 the ward had a population of 6012. [8] In 1974 Little Parndon became part of Harlow non-metropolitan district in the non-metropolitan county of Essex. No successor parish was created for the former urban district and so it became unparished.
