Sexualization in child beauty pageants has been the topic of controversy and debate. Since all the contestants for child beauty pageants are minors, there are concerns regarding the potential long-term negative impacts early sexualization can have on these children's psyche. The negative impacts can effect the contestant's self-esteem and relationship with their own bodies throughout their lives due to hyperfixation on achieving flawless adult aesthetics at a young age. In more extreme cases, the psychological impacts of early sexualization in pageants can lead to various psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety disorder, and various eating disorders. However, there is also support of children competing in beauty pageants due to the way they challenge children to have more confidence in order to able to compete successfully in these pageants.

The Queen is a 1968 American documentary film directed by Frank Simon and narrated by Flawless Sabrina. It depicts the experiences of the drag queens organizing and participating in the 1967 Miss All-America Camp Beauty Contest held at New York City's Town Hall. The film was screened at the International Critics' Week section of the 1968 Cannes Film Festival; however, the festival was ultimately curtailed and ended due to ongoing civil unrest in France before any awards could be given out.

Bougere, Rana Roy, Molly Price, Isabella Amara and Megan West. The series follows a beauty pageant coach who suddenly finds herself backed into the position of training an untested contestant.
Aces & Queens is a Philippine beauty camp that provides training and coaching to beauty pageant contestants. According to ABS-CBN, mentorship offered by camps such as Aces and Queens and Kagandahang Flores, another center offering pageant training, was credited for the successes of Filipino candidates in international beauty contests since 2010.
Lisl Goldarbeiter was an Austrian model and actress, who in 1929, became the first and only Austrian to win the Miss Universe title. She also participated in the Miss Europe competition in 1929.
