Lizymol Philipose Pamadykandathil is an Indian dental materials scientist. Her work has been recognised with a Nari Shakti Puraskar - the highest civilian honour exclusively for women in India.

Life

She holds a doctorate and master's degree from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. She was awarded her doctorate degree in 1998. [1]

She received the Young Scientist Award for the year 2002 of the State Committee on Science, Technology and Environment, Government of Kerala.[ citation needed ]

She was conferred the youth of the year award in 2015 and received a certificate of appreciation to honour her achievements in science, from the Youths Association, Church of the East, Central Committee, India and the Dr. S. Vasudev Award 2014 [2] of KSCSTE, Govt. of Kerala

On International Women's Day (8 March) 2017 she was one of thirty women and nine institutions who received the Nari Shakti Puraskar [3] - the highest civilian honour for women in India from the Honourable President Ram Nath Kovind at the Presidential Palace in New Delhi. [4] Other award winners from Kerala were temple painter Syamala Kumari and zoologist M.S. Sunil. [5] The award came with 100,000 rupees. She was recognised for developing a bioactive polymer and polymer based composite material which can be used for dental restoration and as bone cement for fixing implants. [5]

She works with the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology in Trivandrum. [1]

She has been a recipient of the 7th and 10th National Awards for Technology Innovation awarded by Government of India. [6] She is the recipient of Kerala state science literature puraskaram (children science) in 2020 from KSCSTE, the government of Kerala. She has 28 patents including 19 granted Indian patents, 11 transferred technologies and multiple commercialized technologies to her credit.

The Nari Shakti Puraskar is an annual award given by the Ministry of Women and Child Development of the Government of India to individual women or to institutions that work towards the cause of women empowerment. It is the highest civilian honour for women in India, and is presented by the president of India on International Women's Day at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The award was instituted in 1999 under the title of Stree Shakti Puraskar, renamed and reorganised in 2015. It is awarded in six institutional and two individual categories, which carry a cash prize of 200,000 and 100,000 rupees, respectively.

Ashalatha Radhakrishnan is an Indian neurologist and a professor of neurology at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology. Her research on various neurological disorders have been documented by a number of articles. She has also contributed to several books, including Status Epilepticus: Practical Guidelines in Management, a handbook on Status epilepticus. She was the convener of workshop on epilepsy at the Monsoon Summit 2017 organized by the Kerala Association of Neurologists. The Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India awarded her the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, one of the highest Indian science awards, for her contributions to biosciences, in 2010.

Kurupath Radhakrishnan is an Indian neurologist and epileptologist, who has established R Madhavan Nayar Center for Comprehensive Epilepsy Care, (RMNC) at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) Thiruvananthapuram, India. He has contributed for the resurgence of epilepsy surgery in India during 1990s, after the decline in 1970s. He also served as the director of SCTIMST from 2009 - 2013. After his retirement he worked at the Department of Neurology, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka, India; and at the Department of Neurology, Amrita Advanced Epilepsy Center, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Cochin, Kerala, India. Currently he is working as a senior Consultant, Department of Neurosciences, Avitis Institute of Medical Sciences, Nemmara, Palakkad, Kerala, India.

Jeemon Panniyammakal is a faculty member in the Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies (AMCHSS) in Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Jeemon Panniyammakal has made significant contributions to public health in general and in particular to prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes in India. He was awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in Medical Sciences in the year 2021 for his contributions to public health. In his research, he has been supported with grants from several global organisations including Wellcome Trust, Medical Research Council (UK), National Health and Medical Research Council (Australia), National Institutes of Health (USA) and International Diabetes Federation.

Satelmond Palace in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India is one of the palaces that belonged to the Travancore Royal Family. It is situated in the Poojapura ward of Thiruvananthapuram city. Originally known as Vijaya Vilasam, it later became known as Satelmond Palace. It was the official residence of Sethu Lakshmi Bayi during her regency. During the late 1970s, it was gifted by the royal family to the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, which started its biomedical technology wing there. The queen's portrait still hangs in the hallway at the entrance of the main building.
