Sujatha Mohan is an Indian eye doctor. She is based in Chennai and she has been recognised with a Nari Shakti Puraskar award for philanthropic work supplying free eye care in the region of Chennai.
Mohan studied at an eye hospital, Sankara Nethralaya, in Chennai, India. While there she met her future husband in 1986 and they married the following year.
She is the executive medical director of the Rajan Eye Care Hospital. [1] The hospital has a charitable section named the Chennai Vision Charitable Trust which aims to supply operations that can improve sight in southern India. [2] The trust has created 3,500 eye screening operations within 150 kilometres (93 mi) of their base in Chennai including Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, and Villupuram. They have tested the eyes of a million people and this has resulted in over 100,000 cataract operations, 7,000 corneal transplants and the supply of 300,000 pairs of glasses. The cataract operations have involved the implantation of lens within the patient's eyes and this service has been provided at no cost to the patients. This was achieved with the help of the Rotary Club who funded the corneal eye transplants [2] and a van which is equipped so that they can conduct eye operations within the vehicle. [3]
Mohan was awarded the Nari Shakti Puraskar on 8 March 2019. The 2018 award was made in the Presidential Palace by the President of India on International Women's Day. [4]
They met a few times for meals and the cinema before their parents met on 26 January 1987. They approved and they married on 19 August 1987. They have two daughters. [5]
Sankara Nethralaya is a not-for-profit missionary institution for ophthalmic care headquartered in Chennai, India. In the name "Sankara Nethralaya", "Sankara" is a reference to Adi Shankaracharya and "Nethralaya" means "The Temple of the Eye". Sankara Nethralaya receives patients from India and abroad. The Nari Shakti Puraskar is an annual award given by the Ministry of Women and Child Development of the Government of India to individual women or to institutions that work towards the cause of women empowerment. It is the highest civilian honour for women in India, and is presented by the president of India on International Women's Day at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The award was instituted in 1999 under the title of Stree Shakti Puraskar, renamed and reorganised in 2015. It is awarded in six institutional and two individual categories, which carry a cash prize of 200,000 and 100,000 rupees, respectively.

He is the recipient of the Best Doctor award of the State government from then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa on 15 August 2014. He is also the past President of the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS) and Secretary General of the Intraocular Implant and Refractive Society of India (IIRSI).

Anita Bhardwaj is an Indian high altitude rescue doctor. She is joint medical director of the Six Sigma High Altitude Medical Rescue Services and she has received the highest award for women in India, the Nari Shakti Puraskar.

The Venkateswara Temple, Tirumala, which gathers over a ton of hair every day, agreed to also employ female barbers to carry out the ritual tonsuring. She has gotten awared as the Nari Shakti Puraskar for her work and leads one of the largest organisations offering free education in India. She hails from the powerful family behind the TVS group and is the grand-daughter of T. V. Sundram Iyengar.
