"Location" is a song recorded by British rapper Dave featuring Nigerian singer Burna Boy, released as the third single from Dave's debut studio album Psychodrama . [2] The song was written by Dave, Burna Boy and Jonathan Mensah, and produced by Fraser T. Smith, Jae5 and Dave. [3]

Contents

Commercially, the song reached the top 10 in the United Kingdom and top 40 in Ireland. [4] [5] In April 2020, it was certified as Triple Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry for exceeding chart sales of 1,800,000. [6]

Music video

The music video for "Location" was released via YouTube on 15 July 2019. Directed by Kaylum and Dave, it was shot on location in Ibiza, and features behind the scenes shots of Stormzy's #MERKY Festival, held at Ibiza Rocks, which Dave co-headlined alongside Stormzy and Fredo.

Burna Boy appears in the video, alongside a number of cameo appearances from other artists and celebrities, including Stormzy, Fredo, Lethal Bizzle, Jorja Smith, Avelino, J Hus, Aitch, Unknown T, comedian Michael Dapaah and English footballers, Raheem Sterling and Jadon Sancho.

Critical reception

Writing for Complex , Natty Kasambla referred to the track as "an understated bop". [7]

Psychodrama is the debut studio album by British rapper Dave, released on 8 March 2019. It follows his first two EPs, Six Paths (2016) and Game Over (2017). The album features guest appearances from J Hus, Burna Boy and Ruelle. Psychodrama was executive produced by both Dave and Fraser T. Smith. The album features Dave's piano playing, while Smith assisted with Baroque influences, including strings, brass, harps, as well as more contemporary music through the use of drums and the synthesizer.

Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran wrote the song with producer P2J. It marks the second collaboration between the two artists, as they were both featured on British rapper Stormzy's single, "Own It", from his second studio album, Heavy Is the Head (2019). On 30 June 2022, Sheeran brought Burna Boy out during his performance at Wembley Stadium in his home country of the United Kingdom, in which the two artists performed "For My Hand" for the first time.
