"Lonely Hearts" is a song by Japanese singer-songwriter Miliyah Kato from her seventh studio album, Loveland (2014). The song was written and produced by Kato herself. The single was released for the two versions of CD and digital download on 2 October 2013 through Mastersix Foundation as the second single from Loveland. Ahead of its official release, the short version of the song was released on 18 September 2013 as a ringtone, and the title song was released for digital download on 25 September 2013. [1] [2]
"Lonely Hearts" is a middle-tempo J-pop track with the elements of dance-pop and R&B, and was written as the sequence of Kato's 2005 single, "Dear Lonely Girl". The single peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 and reached number 17 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart. [3] [4] "Lonely Hearts" has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan with more than 100,000 units downloaded. [5] The song became Kato's highest-ranking solo single since "Heart Beat" (2012).
The accompanying music video was directed by Takeshi Maruyama and premiered on 20 September 2013 on YouTube. [6] [7] It deals with same-sex relationship, friendship, bullying, and drug abuse as its theme. [8] Kato has promoted the song with televised live performances on Music Fair on 12 October 2013. [9] The song has also received several remixes.
In Japan, "Lonely Hearts" debuted at number 29 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 dated 7 October 2013. [10] It peaked at number 14 the following week. [11] In February 2020, "Lonely Hearts" was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan with more than 100,000 units downloaded. [5] On the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart, the single debuted at number 17 with the sales of 4,725 copies. It stayed on the chart for five non-consecutive weeks, selling 7,009 copies in total. [3]
Three remixes of "Lonely Hearts" have been officially released as of January 2021. The first remix was by T.O.M., and released on 3 September 2014 as the B-side track of Kato's single "You...". [12] A remix by DJ Shuya, known as M-Mix version, was released as a part of Kato's first remix album, Kato Miliyah M-Mix: Mastermix Vol.1 on 29 July 2015. [13] The third remix by the Sknow was released on 4 September 2019 as the B-side track of Kato's single, "Honto no Boku wo Shitte". [14]
"Lonely Hearts" was covered by Japanese singer Harucha for Kato's tribute album, Inspire (2020). The album peaked at number 40 on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums chart as well as reaching number 43 on the Oricon Weekly Albums chart. [15] [16]

Miho Katō, better known by her stage name of Miliyah Kato is a Japanese pop and urban singer, songwriter, fashion designer, and author. In 2003, Kato started her career as a singer when she provided vocal to Reggae Disco Rockers' song "Cherry Oh! Baby". Her hip-hop-influenced debut album, Rose (2005) was certified platinum in Japan. She gained further recognition when she was featured in M-Flo's track "One Day" (2005). Kato's second studio album Diamond Princess achieved minor commercial success, certified gold by the RIAJ and peaking at number five in Japan. Her third studio album, Tokyo Star (2008) yielded her first top-ten single, "La La La", which was later certified double-platinum for its ringtone sales. Kato's first compilation album Best Destiny (2008) became her first number-one album, certified platinum in Japan. Her fourth studio album Ring became her best-selling album, and yielded three top-ten singles: "Sayonara Baby", "20 -Cry-", and "Love Forever", which was certified million in Japan. The song from the album, "Aitai" were certified triple-platinum despite being not released as a single. Her fifth studio album Heaven (2010) debuted atop on the Oricon chart and has yielded two platinum singles, "Why" and "Last Love".
"Love Forever" is a song by Japanese singer-songwriter Miliyah Kato, released as the third single from her fourth album, Ring, on May 13, 2009. It is a collaboration with fellow R&B/J-Pop singer Shota Shimizu, with whom Kato has previously collaborated with on the song "I'm Your Angel" from the album Tribute to Celine Dion (2007).
"Jōnetsu" (情熱) is Japanese singer-songwriter Ua's fourth single, released on June 21, 1996. It served as ending theme for the TBS TV program M Navi. "Jōnetsu" is regarded as the song that propelled Ua to stardom as well as being her biggest hit. Best Destiny is pop singer Miliyah Kato's fourth album, and first greatest hits collection. She described Best Destiny as the "Sampling Best [of·Miliyah Kato as a R&B musician]". It was released on November 5, 2008, and debuted on at number 1 on the Oricon weekly chart. The album sold 92,423 copies that week, becoming her first number 1 album on the charts. Best Destiny is certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan. One single was taken from the album, "Sayonara Baby/Koi Shiteru" six weeks before the album's release.
