Lori Denise Wilson (born July 17,1976) [1] is an American politician elected to the California State Assembly. [2] She is a Democrat elected to represent the 11th district,encompassing Solano County and parts of Contra Costa County,including the city of Oakley,and Sacramento County. [3] Prior to being elected to the State Assembly,she was mayor of Suisun City. [4]
In 2023,Wilson authored AB957, [5] [6] a bill that would have required courts to consider a parent’s affirmation of their child’s gender identity or expression when determining the child's best interest in custody or visitation proceedings. This bill was ultimately vetoed [7] by Governor Newsom.
In November 2023,Wilson made history when she was appointed chair of the Assembly Transportation Committee,becoming the first Black woman to hold that position in California. [8]
