Lost River is a city in Custer County, Idaho, United States. The population was 42 persons at the 2020 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.70 square miles (22.53 km2), of which, 8.69 square miles (22.51 km2) is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 km2) is water. [1]
Its name refers to its location near the Big Lost River.
As of the census [3] of 2010, there were 68 people, 15 households, and 11 families residing in the city. The population density was 7.8 inhabitants per square mile (3.0/km2). There were 30 housing units at an average density of 3.5 per square mile (1.4/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 95.6% White, 2.9% African American, and 1.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.8% of the population.
There were 15 households, of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.3% were married couples living together, and 26.7% were non-families. 13.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 4.53 and the average family size was 3.36.
