J-pop, natively also known simply as pops, is a musical genre that entered the musical mainstream of Japan in the 1990s. Modern J-pop has its roots in traditional Japanese music, but significantly in 1960s pop and rock music, such as The Beatles and The Beach Boys, which led to Japanese rock bands such as Happy End fusing rock with Japanese music in the early 1970s. J-pop was further defined by new wave and crossover fusion acts of the late 1970s such as Yellow Magic Orchestra and Southern All Stars, then Eurobeat in the early 1990s, namely Namie Amuro.
TVXQ, an initialism for Tong Vfang Xien Qi, is a South Korean pop duo consisting of U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin. They are known as Tohoshinki in Japanese releases, and are sometimes referred to as DBSK, an abbreviation of their Korean name Dong Bang Shin Ki (Korean: 동방신기). Their name roughly translates to "Rising Gods of the East".
Oricon Inc., established in 1999, is the holding company at the head of a Japanese corporate group that supplies statistics and information on music and the music industry in Japan and Western music. It started as Original Confidence Inc., which was founded by Sōkō Koike in November 1967 and became known for its music charts. Oricon Inc. was originally set up as a subsidiary of Original Confidence and took over the latter’s Oricon record charts in April 2002.
Jewel of Jewels is MAX's fifth original studio album released five years after their last album, Emotional History (2001). It is their first and last album recorded with Aki who left the group in 2008. It contains six of the seven singles released with Aki and was the group's first album to be released in dual formats.
"Nirai Kanai" "(ニライカナイ)" is MAX's 28th single and first under the Sonic Groove label. The single serves as a commemoration of their 10th anniversary and saw the group return to the style that originally made them popular.

"Chase the Chance" is Namie Amuro's second solo single on the Avex Trax label. Released in December 1995, it debuted at number one on the Oricon charts becoming her first of five million selling singles. As of August 2012, the single has sold 1.3 million copies in Japan. At the end of the month, she would make her first appearance as a solo artist on Kōhaku Uta Gassen performing the single. It is the last single before she and MAX permanently split ways, even though MAX do not appear in the accompanying music video.
Japanese female vocal/dance unit, MAX has released five studio albums, two compilations, three remix albums, and 31 singles. Three of their albums, Maximum (1996), Maximum Groove (1998), and Maximum Collection have topped the Oricon album charts. Four of their albums, including Maximum, Maximum II (1997), Maximum Groove, and Maximum Collection have been certified million selling albums by RIAJ. The group have 15 consecutive top ten singles, 16 overall. Their sixth single, "Give Me a Shake" (1997) is their best selling single and their only single to top the Oricon singles chart. Since their debut on May 10, 1995, the group has amassed sales of over 10 million albums and singles in Japan.
"Ride on Time" is MAX's 10th single released under Avex Trax. The title track and its b-side were used as the opening and ending theme songs to the drama "Sweet Devil" which starred the members of MAX as a group of college women who become cursed after using forbidden magic after getting involved in the case of a serial killer. The single debuted in the top 5 of the Oricon chart upon release and is the group's third best selling single.
"Grace of My Heart" is MAX's 11th single released under Avex Trax. The title track was used in commercials for Communicase Gum. Its B-side, "Getting Over" was used in a series of commercials for DyDo Mistio soft drinks including one commercial featuring Namie Amuro. Upon release the single debuted at #2, becoming their second highest ranking single behind "Give Me a Shake" which debuted at #1.
"Give Me A Shake" is MAX's 6th single released under Avex Trax. Until the release of this single, all of MAX's music was covers of Italian Eurobeat songs, "Give Me A Shake" is their first original Japanese language song. Upon its release the song debuted at #1 on Oricon weekly charts, becoming their first and only top charting single. The song brought the group their first Japan Record Award grand prix nomination and allowed them to make their first appearance on Kōhaku Uta Gassen.
"Love Is Dreaming" is MAX's 7th single released under Avex Trax. Both the title song and b-side were originally English songs written by Joey Carbone and Jeff Carruthers entitled, "First Kiss" and "Be Good To Me." They were recorded and released in Japan in 1991 by Singaporean singer, Maizurah. With the help of the original songwriters, a Japanese version of "First Kiss" was rewritten and recorded as "Love Is Dreaming" and "Be Good To Me" was rewritten as "Wonderland." The single debuted and peaked at #4.
"Koisuru Velfarre Dance ~Saturday night~" is MAX's debut single released under Avex Trax. It is a Japanese language cover of the song "Saturday Night" released in 1994 by Whigfield. As the song was originally recorded for the opening of Avex's Velfarre club, it was meant to be MAX's only release as the group was created solely for promoting the club. However, following the official demise of their original group Super Monkey's, the group released another single "Kiss Me Kiss Me, Baby" beginning their reign as one of Japan's most successful and enduring girl groups.
Maximum is MAX's debut studio album released under Avex Trax. The album consists entirely of Japanese language covers of Eurobeat songs. The album sold more than 1.2 million copies becoming the group's most successful release. It spent 4 non-consecutive weeks at #1. It is also the 15th best-selling album of 1997.
"Spring Rain" is MAX's 23rd single on the Avex Trax label and their second ballad single. It was released on February 20, 2002 after the announcement of lead singer Mina's pregnancy and marriage. It was Mina's last single with the group before she was replaced by Aki on their next single, "Eternal White."
"Feel So Right" is MAX's 22nd single on the Avex Trax label and was released on December 5, 2001. The title track was used as the ending theme to anime series, Captain Tsubasa: Road to 2002. MAX performed the song on their fifth appearance on NHK singing contest, Kōhaku Uta Gassen.
"Moonlight" is MAX's 21st single on the Avex Trax label and was released on September 27, 2001. The title track was used as the ending theme to the variety program, Sukiyaki London Boots. Its b-side "Paradise Lost," was used as the theme song to the anime series, Kuru Kuru Amy.
"Perfect Love" is MAX's 20th single on the Avex Trax label and was released on May 16, 2001. The title track was the "Kacchao" commercial song. The song debuted and peaked at #10 on the Oricon charts and is currently their last top 10 single.
"Always Love" is a song by Japanese pop group, MAX. It was released as their 19th single and was used as the ending theme to the NTV program, Sports Max. It is the last of five singles leading up to their fourth original studio album, Emotional History (2001). The song was written by Hiromi Mori who has worked with MAX on their singles, "Shinin'on-Shinin'love and "Love Impact." It was composed by T2ya and is his first production with the group.
"Danzen! Futari wa Pretty Cure" is the opening theme song of Futari wa Pretty Cure, the inaugural installment of the Pretty Cure magical girl franchise. Sung by Mayumi Gojo, two remixes of the song were later released.
