Edwards lost sight in her right eye at age 11 due to incontinentia pigmenti, a genetic condition; she lost her remaining eyesight at age 17. She completed her A-levels at college, [2] and dropped out of law school due to her mental health. [3]
After choosing not to pursue law school further, she trained to become a journalist at the BBC through their Extend programme. [3] In 2019, she became BBC Radio 1's first blind presenter. [4]
In 2021, she was named as a brand ambassador for Pantene. [5] In September 2022, she campaigned for accessibility in the entertainment industry, speaking out on the lack of audio description for television shows, films, and theatres, as well as inaccessible website design. [6]
In May 2023, ahead of the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, she launched a podcast for partially-sighted and blind Eurovision fans on BBC Sounds titled Eurovision Described, which was co-hosted by Abi Clarke and provided audio descriptions of the proceedings. [4] Five months later, in October, she traveled to Japan to film content for BBC's The Travel Show. [7] In December, she featured on a charity cover of Wizzard's "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday", forming part of influencer supergroup Creator Universe to raise money for food bank charity The Trussell Trust. In April 2024, Edwards released a memoir, Blind Not Broken. [9] In July, she signed a book deal with Scholastic for Ella Jones vs The Sun Stealer, a middle-grade novel centering a blind protagonist. [10] That same month, Edwards appeared in Mattel's campaign surrounding their first blind Barbie. [11] In August, she modelled for Sinéad O’Dwyer's catwalk as part of Copenhagen Fashion Week, accompanied by her guide dog. This made her the first blind model to participate in the event. [12] [13]
In October 2024, Edwards was one of three winners of The Estée Lauder Companies' The Catalysts program. She aims to use the award's funding and mentorship to establish Etia London, an intentionally-accessible beauty brand. [14]
Edwards began posting on YouTube in early 2014 under the name Yesterday's Wishes (stylised as YesterdaysWishes). [15] Her content included vlogs about her experiences with blindness and accessible makeup and beauty tutorials. [16] [17]
In 2019, Edwards appeared on Say Yes to the Dress Lancashire. She began posting on TikTok towards the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, with many of her videos going viral. In 2020, she was featured in TikTok's Creator Spotlight campaign, and their 2020 TikTok 100. [18] [19] In 2021, she joined TikTok's UK Creator Council. [20] By January 2024, Edwards had 1.8 million followers. [21]
Edwards lives in Birmingham with her former guide dog (Olga), current guide dog (Molly), and her husband, Ollie. [22] The couple began dating when she was 17; she lost her remaining eyesight two months into their relationship. [2] At their wedding in 2023, Edwards had her guests and husband put on blindfolds during her walk down the aisle. [23] In late 2024, Edwards announced she would be undergoing IVF with her husband; all potential embryos would be screened for incontinentia pigmenti, as the disorder causes severe brain damage in boys. She noted this decision was not out of desire to avoid blindness itself, saying "If I was told I was going to have a baby exactly like me, who would be blind but able to thrive and have an amazing life as a disabled person, I would conceive without any worry". In 2018, she released her debut single "My Story" under Virgin Records, whom she was signed to until February 2021, when she became an independent artist. In 2020, Billboard ranked her among TikTok's top 10 music influencers with over 50 million followers.

There are reports of TikTok and Douyin censoring political content related to China and other countries as well as content from minority creators. TikTok says that its initial content moderation policies, many of which are no longer applicable, were aimed at reducing divisiveness and were not politically motivated.

In 2022, Linn represented her country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy with the song "Snap" and finished in 20th place. Following the contest, the song went viral on TikTok and charted globally; earning her a recording contract with Columbia Records. Her debut EP, Lay Your Hands Upon My Heart, was released on 22 June 2023.
Sam Ryder Robinson is an English singer, songwriter, producer, composer and social media personality. He rose to prominence in 2020, after posting music covers on TikTok, during the first UK lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic and signed to Parlophone Records before parting ways with them in 2023. His music has since incorporated various genres including rock music, pop, alternative rock, and metalcore, while his vocal range, and use of vibrato and falsetto, has garnered critical acclaim.
Libs of TikTok is a handle for various far-right and anti-LGBT social-media accounts operated by Chaya Raichik, a former real estate agent. Raichik uses the accounts to repost content created by left-wing and LGBT people on TikTok, and on other social-media platforms, often with hostile, mocking, or derogatory commentary. The accounts promote hate speech and transphobia, and spread false claims, especially relating to medical care of transgender children. The Twitter account, also known by the handle @LibsofTikTok, has over 3.5 million followers as of September 2024 and has become influential among American conservatives and the political right. Libs of TikTok's social-media accounts have received several temporary suspensions and a permanent suspension from TikTok.
Dylan Mulvaney is an American social media personality known for detailing her gender transition in daily videos published on TikTok since early 2022. Before coming out as a transgender woman and launching her internet career, Mulvaney performed as a stage actor in Old Globe Theatre, Off-Broadway, and Broadway productions. She gained a higher profile on social media platforms after her interview with U.S. president Joe Biden at the White House, during which they spoke about transgender rights. After Bud Light sent a beer can to Mulvaney for an Instagram promotion in 2023, American conservatives led a boycott of the brand.
Melissa Ong, known by her TikTok username chunkysdead and nickname Mother Hen, is an American Internet influencer, TikToker, YouTuber, and former user experience designer. She worked at several technology companies before leaving her job to focus on making videos for the social network TikTok. Ong is best known for the "Step Chickens," a self-described online cult formed after Ong released a TikTok video in a chicken costume satirizing tropes in pornography. The Step Chickens are more akin to a cult of personality or fandom than a harmful or violent cult; their main activities include spamming the comments sections of other creators, changing their profile pictures to match a selfie taken by Ong, and conversing on an app rebranded for them by Ong's friend and former co-worker.

She is known for her skits that range from thirty seconds to a minute long. Collins began posting on TikTok in April 2020. As of January 2025, she has 50.7 million followers, making her the most-followed TikToker from Canada and the 29th overall. Her YouTube channel, which she began uploading to in 2020, has 11.9 million subscribers as of January 2025.
Grace Eleanor Keeling, known professionally as GK Barry, is an English internet personality, social media influencer and presenter. Keeling began posting on video-sharing platform TikTok in 2020 whilst completing a film studies degree at Nottingham Trent University, during which she worked on the BBC soap opera Doctors. After one year of posting lifestyle videos on the app, she surpassed 1 million followers. She began presenting a podcast, Saving Grace, in April 2022, which sees her interviewing various celebrities. She has since gone on to tour the Saving Grace podcast around the UK. In 2024, Keeling joined the cast of Loose Women as a panellist, making her the youngest regular panellist in the show's 25-year history. She went on to appear in the twenty-fourth series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! later that year. In 2025, she made her acting debut, with a cameo as Vanessa in the Netflix original series Missing You.
