Lunglei Government College is the biggest college in the town of Lunglei, Mizoram. It is graded B++ by NAAC. [1] Talks are underway now with UGC to set up Mizoram University campus in Lunglei Government College campus, thus making it a constituent college of Mizoram University like Pachhunga University College. [2] The College has 1250 students and 63 Faculty. [3]

Lunglei Government College is located in Lunglei which has a population of 77,482. [4] The College has a 29.74 bigha of land in the heart of the town bearing Land Lease No.DLP 25 of 1998

History

Lunglei Government College (LGC) was established on 10 September 1964 under the concerted efforts of the then elites of the society. It was provincialized in 1976 by the Government of Mizoram. The College was then recognized under section 2(b) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act in 1981 and was accorded the 12(b) status in July 2008. It is currently affiliated to Mizoram University.

Departments

Lunglei Government College has two streams: Arts and Science with 8 subjects’ areas of Arts and 6 subjects of Science. The College is the only Government College which offers the study of ‘Philosophy’ and ‘Geology’ in the State.

Facilities

The College has one girls' hostel and another two hostels under construction. The Consortium of Educational Communication (CEC) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) sponsored INFINIUM has been installed EDUSAT satellite receiver in 2008, to impart better education in the College. A Certificate course in Computer Application was started at the College from 27 July 2009 with the financial assistance of UGC. The College multipurpose hall was inaugurated in April 2018. [5] [6]

Pachhunga University College

Pachhunga University College (PUC) is a public institute in Aizawl, Mizoram, and the only constituent college of Mizoram University, a central university established by an Act of Parliament of India. Founded in 1958 as Aijal College, it is the oldest and largest college in Mizoram, by enrolment and campus size. It started with intermediate of arts courses, and later expanded to bachelor's degrees in arts, commerce and science. With the opening of master's degree courses in Mizo, philosophy and life sciences, it became the first postgraduate college in Mizoram.

Barkatullah University

Barkatullah University is a state government university in Bhopal, India. Originally known as the University of Bhopal, and informally as Bhopal University, it was renamed in 1988 after the freedom fighter Professor Maulavi Barkatullah, who was born in the area. Barkatullah University has been accredited as an A category university by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

The Government Champhai College is a government university college associated with Mizoram University, located in Champhai, Mizoram, in India. Established as a private college in 1971 by the philanthropists of Champhai town and neighboring villages, the founders' objective was providing collegiate education to the students of this remote hilly tribal town near the international border of India with Myanmar.

ICFAI University, Dehradun University

ICFAI University, Dehradun (IUD), or in its fuller name Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University, Dehradun, is a private university located in the city of Dehradun, in north Indian state of Uttarakhand. It was established in 2003 and is organised into four institutes, which are as ICFAI Law School (ILS), ICFAI Business School (IBS), ICFAI Tech School (ITS), and ICFAI Education School (IEds).

Siliguri College, also known as city college, was established in the year 1950. It is the oldest college in Siliguri situated in the Indian state of West Bengal. It offers undergraduate courses in arts and sciences and also offers PG courses in Bengali and geography. The campus is in Darjeeling district. Govt. Zirtiri Residential Science College is the only institution that offers purely science education in the State of Mizoram. It is graded A by NAAC and has students 911 currently studying in the college.

Government Saiha College is the only college in Saiha district of Mizoram, northeast India. It is the first college in southern Mizoram. It was established in 1978 as a result of public demand, and recognised by the Government of Mizoram in 1979. It started as only arts college. It is now under the jurisdiction of the Mizoram University and under recognition of the University Grants Commission (India).

Government J. Buana College College in Mizoram, India

Government Kolasib College is an undergraduate college of Mizoram state in India located at Kolasib. Mizoram Engineering College is the only engineering college in the town of Lunglei, Mizoram.
