Luv Is Rage is the debut commercial mixtape by American rapper Lil Uzi Vert. It was released on October 30, 2015, by Generation Now and Atlantic Records. The mixtape includes features from Young Thug and Wiz Khalifa. A sequel was released on August 25, 2017.
In a 2016 interview with GlobalGrindTV, Lil Uzi Vert explained the title of Luv Is Rage:
It goes two different ways. It's, like, I usually just say the one way, but it go both ways. Like 'Luv Is Rage' is, like, L-U-V: it's Lil Uzi Vert, and, like, I'm a rockstar, I am rage, like everything I do, I'm raging. And, it's more, like, you know rage is, like, it's not that good, like, raging is, like, rebellious, like, and, like, with love, like, you know, love is good. Like, but love is also bad too. It's horrible. And it was, like, a lot of songs are a little darker and stuff and, like, you can hear the stuff that I say–stuff, like, yeah–I don't know, I'm always in a bad space, even if I'm, like–I don't know, I'm crazy. The version of the mixtape on streaming services only contains 12 of the 16 songs that are on the mixtape, as "Moist", "Queso", "Wit My Crew x 1987" and "Nuyork Nights at 21" are excluded.
The mixtape features Atlanta rapper Young Thug on streaming services. However, the mixtape also originally included a feature from fellow Pennsylvanian rapper Wiz Khalifa, whom Lil Uzi Vert considers to be one of their leading inspirations. [2]
The album cover is meant to depict Lil Uzi Vert calling his ex-girlfriend Brittany Byrd to the stage after meeting her for the first time, this is mentioned in his hit song "20 min" [3] and on the album with his song "Top" [4]
The music video for the mixtape's first track "Safe House" was released on November 10, 2015 as a WorldStarHipHop exclusive directed by Spike Jordan. [5] As of September 2024, the music video has accumulated over 3 million views.
The music video for "Super Saiyan Trunks" was released on July 8, 2015. [6] The music video features clips from Dragon Ball, a Japanese animated television series. As of September 2024, the music video has accumulated over 10 million views. In November 2020 Lil Uzi Vert teased Super Saiyan 2 on Twitter as well as playing a short clip featuring a similar beat, flow and intro as well as the similar opening line "Have you ever made 10 million dollars with your talent?" after revealing they will be revising older styles of their music on their next project.
The music video for "All My Chains" was released on February 19, 2016. [7] The music video features Lil Uzi Vert in North Philadelphia, where they were born and raised. [8] As of September 2024, the music video has accumulated over 7 million views.
The mixtape received generally positive reviews. Darryl Robertson of Vibe called the project "solid". [9] Rose Lilah of HotNewHipHop called the features on the mixtape "quality". [10] Kemet High of XXL said that the mixtape "depicts Uzi at [their] rawest state", and said that the project was "packed with swift melodies". [11]
"7AM" spent a total of ten weeks on the Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart, peaking at number five on August 6, 2016. [12]

Tyree Cinque Simmons, known professionally as DJ Drama, is an American disc jockey (DJ), record executive and music promoter. He initially gained recognition as the DJ for Atlanta-based rapper T.I., and continued to gain prominence hosting mixtapes for other hip hop artists. His trademark Gangsta Grillz series is present on releases of which he has compiled; it has been popularized by artists including Lil Wayne, Tyler the Creator, Snoop Dogg, Yo Gotti, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Fabolous, Jeezy, Meek Mill, and Gucci Mane, among others. Alongside record producer and fellow Philadelphia native Don Cannon, he co-founded the record label Generation Now in 2015, an imprint of Atlantic Records which has signed artists including Lil Uzi Vert and Jack Harlow.
Donald Cannon is an American DJ, record producer, and record executive who served as Vice President of A&R at Def Jam Recordings from 2012 to 2018. With DJ Drama, he is the co-founder of the record label Generation Now, an imprint of Atlantic Records that has signed artists including Lil Uzi Vert and Jack Harlow. Furthermore, Cannon and DJ Drama are members of the Atlanta-based mixtape collective, Aphilliates Music Group.
Sonny Corey Uwaezuoke, better known by his stage name Sonny Digital, is an American record producer, rapper, and DJ. He first saw recognition for his production work on YC's 2011 single "Racks", which peaked within the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100. Throughout the following decade, he was credited on a string of commercially successful hip hop and trap singles including ILoveMakonnen's "Tuesday", Future's "Same Damn Time", 50 Cent's "I'm the Man", 2 Chainz's "Birthday Song", and Travis Scott's "Stargazing". Uwaezuoke has also produced for XXL Magazine's Freshman Hip Hop Cyphers in 2017 and 2018, and pursued a lukewarmly-received career as a recording artist.
Dimitri Leslie Roger, known professionally as Rich the Kid, is an American rapper. After a number of independent mixtapes, he signed with Interscope Records in 2017 to release his debut studio album, The World Is Yours (2018). "Money Longer" is the debut single by American rapper Lil Uzi Vert. It was released for digital download on February 6, 2016, as the first single from their third mixtape Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World, and as a bonus track from Japanese versions of their debut album Luv is Rage 2, by Generation Now and Atlantic Records. The whole song focuses on the idea that Lil Uzi Vert has now "turn[ed] into a savage" as is repeated throughout the song. The song was produced by Philadelphia-based record producers Don Cannon and Maaly Raw.

"XO Tour Llif3" is a song by American rapper Lil Uzi Vert from the EP Luv Is Rage 1.5 (2017) and debut album Luv Is Rage 2 (2017). It was released on SoundCloud on February 26, 2017, and later on all music streaming platforms on March 24, 2017. The track was produced by TM88, with co-production by JW Lucas. It peaked at number seven on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Lil Uzi Vert's highest-charting single as a solo artist until the release of "Futsal Shuffle 2020", which peaked at number five. It was also their second top 10 entry overall after their feature on "Bad and Boujee" by Migos. It is Lil Uzi Vert's most popular song, and has amassed over two billion streams on Spotify. On December 10, 2024, the song was certified RIAA Diamond selling over 14 million copies, giving them their first Diamond certification and making it the best-selling emo rap song of all time, and also one of the best-selling digital singles of all-time. "Wokeuplikethis" is a song by American rapper Playboi Carti, featuring fellow American rapper Lil Uzi Vert. Written alongside producer Pi'erre Bourne, it was originally released on March 11, 2017 to SoundCloud before being official released on April 7, 2017, as the second single from Carti's eponymous debut commercial mixtape. The song samples the 2004 single "White Tee".
Luv Is Rage 1.5 is the second extended play by American rapper and singer Lil Uzi Vert.
