Lydia Glaize is an American politician from the Georgia Democratic Party who serves as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives representing District 67. [1]
She has been Labor Liaison for United Way of Greater Atlanta. [2] She is a former city council member and mayor pro-tem of Fairburn. [3]

Lester Garfield Maddox Sr. was an American politician who served as the 75th governor of Georgia from 1967 to 1971. A populist Southern Democrat,Maddox came to prominence as a staunch segregationist when he refused to serve black customers in his Atlanta restaurant,the Pickrick,in violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. As he was ineligible to run for a second consecutive gubernatorial term,he sought and won election as lieutenant governor,serving alongside his successor as governor,Jimmy Carter.

The 688 Club was a popular alternative music venue in Atlanta,Georgia,located at 688 Spring Street,near the intersection of Spring and 3rd Streets. The 688 Club opened in May 1980 and closed in November 1986. The club was operated by Steve May. The club was co-owned by Tony Evans,John Wicker,and in its final years by Mike Hendry. Cathy Hendrix served as the club's music director. During its brief lifetime,the 688 played host to hundreds of punk rock,new wave and alternative rock bands,many of whom would later become well known.

The 2011 Georgia State Panthers football team represented Georgia State University in the 2011 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Panthers were led by second year head coach Bill Curry and played their home games at the Georgia Dome. Lydia Mitcham Meredith is an American author and the former CEO of the Renaissance Learning Center (RLC) in Atlanta,Georgia,from Macon,Georgia. Meredith is a community organizer,entrepreneur and civil rights activist formerly operated an early childhood development center in downtown Atlanta,Georgia. She was featured in an episode of Stephen Colbert Comedy Central Difference Makers for ridding her facility of vagrants with technology Meredith led the daily operations of the Renaissance Learning Center (RLC) operating in the 4th Ward community of Atlanta,Georgia. Ninety-five percent of the students assisted by the Renaissance Learning Center were from impoverished homes. Teen Talk,a program within their curriculum,educated over 2,000 teenagers on life skills. The RLC graduated over 3,000 students into kindergarten. The RLC successfully assisted 2,500 school-age children get promoted to the next grade with 100% of them going on to high school. Five hundred children and adults are impacted daily by the RLC. Fifteen thousand families were elevated out of poverty because of services rendered to them by the Renaissance Learning Center. She was acknowledged for her work in the community by former governor of Georgia Roy Barnes. The RLC was presented with the Childhood Hero Award for the service rendered to the youth of the community.
