History

Stena Lagan was built in July 2005, as Lagan Viking, entering service with Norse Merchant Ferries later the same month. It was named after the River Lagan, the principal river in Belfast. [2] A few months later, Norse Merchant Ferries was acquired by Norfolkline.

In July 2010, Norfolkline was acquired by DFDS. The vessel was renamed Lagan Seaways during her refit in August 2010. Later that same year, DFDS sold its Northern Irish operations to Stena Line. [3] The sale included the BelfastBirkenhead route and Lagan Seaways' sister ship, Mersey Seaways. In August 2011, she was renamed Stena Lagan [4] [5]

In March 2020, The Stena Edda arrived from China to replace her on the Belfast - Birkenhead route. She departed for Tuzla, Istanbul on 14 March 2020 for lengthening. [6] Beside the lengthening, she gets a new bow [7]

Stena Lagan operated on the Birkenhead–Belfast route with her sister ship Stena Mersey. In all, the total journey time on board the ship is 8 hours. [8]

MS <i>King Seaways</i>

MS King Seaways is a cruiseferry operated and owned by the Danish shipping company DFDS Seaways on a route connecting North Shields, effectively the port of Newcastle upon Tyne,, England to IJmuiden in the Netherlands. She was built in 1987 as MS Nils Holgersson by Seebeckwerft, Bremerhaven, West Germany for TT-Line. Between 1993 and 2006 the ship was named MV Val de Loire, owned by Brittany Ferries and used on traffic across the English Channel. A DFDS vessel since 2006, she was originally named MS King of Scandinavia, before being given her current name in 2011.

MS <i>Princess Seaways</i>

MS Princess Seaways is a cruiseferry operated and owned by the Danish shipping company DFDS Seaways on a route connecting North Shields, England, to IJmuiden in the Netherlands. She was built in 1986 as Peter Pan by Seebeckwerft, Bremerhaven, Germany for TT-Line. Between 1993 and 2002, the ship was operated by TT-Line Company of Tasmania under the name Spirit of Tasmania a service across the Bass Strait. In 2002, the ship was sold to Fjord Line and renamed Fjord Norway for service from Denmark. In 2006, she was sold to DFDS Seaways and sailed as Princess of Norway before being given her current name in 2011.

MS <i>Dunkerque Seaways</i>

Dunkerque Seaways is a ro-pax ferry operated by DFDS Seaways on their cross-channel route between Dover, United Kingdom and Dunkirk, France. She was delivered to Norfolkline in 2005 as Maersk Dunkerque.

MS <i>Finbo Cargo</i>

The MS Finbo Cargo is a roll-on/roll-off passenger ferry that was previously called the European Endeavour which was owned and operated by P&O Ferries until May 2019. Eckerö Line purchased the ship from P&O in 2019 and is expected to take delivery in June 2019 and renamed her MS Finbo Cargo.

MS <i>Delft Seaways</i>

Delft Seaways is a ro-pax ferry owned and operated by DFDS Seaways. She is the one of three sister ships designed for the cross-Channel route from Dover to Dunkerque, capable of making the crossing in 1 hour and 45 minutes. Delft Seaways is a Scandinavian designed ship built at the Samsung shipyards in South Korea in 2005. She sails under the flag of the United Kingdom and her port of registry is Dover.

MS <i>A. Nepita</i>

MS A Nepita is a fast ropax ferry for Corsica Linea. The ferry was refurbished in Gdańsk, Poland for her new service and was returned to her original design before her SeaFrance career and looks identical to her sisters Stena Superfast VII & VIII. Before November 2014 she operated between Dover and Calais for DFDS Seaways France and between 2008 and 2012 for SeaFrance.

The ferry service between Rosyth and Zeebrugge was a freight-only service operated by DFDS. The service replaced a passenger and freight service that was initially operated by Superfast Ferries between May 2002 and September 2008, and then by Norfolkline from 18 May 2009 until 15 December 2010. It was the only direct ferry route between Scotland and Continental Europe. On 20 August 2010 it was announced that the passenger service would end on 15 December 2010, although the freight-only service resumed shortly thereafter. The service was terminated in 2018 following a fire aboard one of the ships.

MS <i>Stena Scotia</i>

MS Stena Scotia is a freight ferry that is owned by Stena and operated by the ferry company Stena Line. She operates on the route that links Heysham with Belfast. She was built in 1996 at the Miho Shipyards in Japan as the Maersk Exporter for Norfolkline. In 2010, she was renamed as the Scotia Seaways when DFDS Seaways acquired Norfolkline and took over all of its operations. Later that year, she was chartered to Stena Line where she was repainted and again renamed, this time as the Stena Scotia, and re-flagged to the Isle of Man. She has three sister ships, Stena Hibernia, Flandria Seaways and Anglia Seaways. She can only accommodate 12 passengers, but provides 1,692 lane-metres.

MS <i>Strait Feronia</i>

The Strait Feronia is a passenger, freight & vehicle or ROPAX ferry owned and operated by StraitNZ as part of its Bluebridge subsidiary. The ship is a twin of MS Liverpool Seaways.

MV <i>Connemara</i>

MV Connemara is a RORO passenger and freight ferry registered under the Greek flag of registry, currently on charter to Brittany Ferries from Stena RoRo. Connemara currently sails from Ringaskiddy, to Santander and Roscoff. From 2007 to 2010, she was operated by Balearia as Borja, then between 2010 and 2011 as Baltic Amber for AVE Lines and then DFDS Seaways, before subsequently spending 4 years on charter to LD Lines. She spent the majority of fall 2014 and 2015 on charter to Inter Shipping sailing from Algeciras, Spain, when she was then chartered by ANEK Lines, being replaced by Nova Star Cruises's Nova Star. The ship was renamed MS Asterion which comes from Greek Mythology of Asterion, the King of Crete.

MV <i>Scottish Viking</i>

Scottish Viking is a ferry operated by Stena Line between Ventspils and Nynäshamn.

E-Flexer-class ferry

The E-Flexer is a class of Chinese-built Ro-Pax ferries ordered by Stena RoRo for European line service. Nine vessels of the class are on order, and upon delivery will be operated by Stena Line, Brittany Ferries, and DFDS Seaways. Stena Line are to take five vessels of the class, Brittany Ferries three, and a single vessel will go to DFDS. All of the vessels will be delivered to Stena RoRo with the Stena Line vessels transferred to that company and the Brittany Ferries and DFDS examples long-term chartered to those operators.
