Munster Technological University Cork GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the Munster Technological University in Bishopstown, Cork, Ireland. The club fields teams in a range of competitions in both hurling and Gaelic football.
Gaelic games were first played at the then Cork Regional Technical College when a student Gaelic football team was established in 1975. A student hurling team was set up the following year. The staff of the RTC Cork also had an active GAA club, and competed in various inter-firm hurling and football competitions. [2]
In 1995, Cork RTC made their debuts in the Fitzgibbon Cup and Sigerson Cup. Teams were also fielded that year in the Cork SHC and Cork SFC for the first time. Three unsuccessful appearances in Fitzgibbon Cup finals followed, while Cork Institute of Technology, as it was then known, won the Sigerson Cup title in 2009. [3] The Cork Institute of Technology also made an unsuccessful appearance in the 2011 Cork SHC final. [4]

Hurling
The Institute of Technology, Tralee was an institute of technology, located in Tralee, Ireland. It was established in 1977 as the Regional Technical College, Tralee. In January 2021, itself and the Cork Institute of Technology were dissolved to become the Munster Technological University, Ireland's second technological university.
The Fitzgibbon Cup is the trophy for the premier hurling championship among higher education institutions in Ireland.
Thomas Kenny is an Irish hurling coach and hurler who plays for Cork Intermediate Championship club Grenagh. He played for the Cork senior hurling team for 10 years, during which time he usually lined out at midfield before ending his career at right wing-back. Kenny's midfield partnership with Jerry O'Connor is regarded as one of the greatest of all time.
John O'Keeffe is a former Irish Gaelic footballer who played for the Austin Stacks club and at senior level for the Kerry county team between 1969 and 1984. He was a highly talented midfielder, and one of the most stylish and accomplished full-backs in Gaelic football history. He later became the Irish international rules team manager.
The Trench Cup is the second-tier Gaelic football championship trophy for third-level education colleges, institutes of technology and universities in Ireland and England. The Trench Cup Championship is administered by Comhairle Ard Oideachais, the Gaelic Athletic Association's Higher Education Council.
John O'Donoghue is an Irish former hurler, Gaelic footballer and coach. At club level he played with Arravale Rovers, and also lined out at inter-county level with various Tipperary teams.
Patrick Barry is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with Glen Rovers and St. Nicholas' and was also a dual player with the Cork senior teams.
Ballyhea GAA is a hurling club in the village of Ballyhea in Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the Avondhu, division of Cork GAA. As of 2015, the club was competing in the Cork Senior Hurling Championship. It did not field Gaelic football teams for a number of years, however, as of 2023 they compete in the Avondhu Junior football championship structure.
Tralee IT GAA was the GAA team in the Institute of Technology, Tralee, Ireland. They played Gaelic football, hurling, ladies' Gaelic football and camogie. On 1 January 2021, Tralee IT merged with Cork IT to become Munster Technological University.
John Griffin is an Irish hurling manager and former player who is the current manager of the Kerry senior hurling team. He played for club sides Lixnaw, Finuge and Blarney and was also a member of the Kerry senior hurling team.
Simon Murphy was an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with St Michael's, Blascktock and University College Cork and was also a member of the Cork senior hurling team. In spite of a brief senior career, he was one of the most decorated players of his generation having won seven All-Ireland medals at various levels in both codes between 1967 and 1972.
The Fergal Maher Cup is a hurling cup competition for Third-level Colleges. The Cup is awarded to the winners of the Tier 3 Championship.
The Ryan Cup is the tier 2 hurling championship for third level colleges, the Fitzgibbon Cup being the tier 1 hurling championship trophy. The Ryan Cup competition is administered by Comhairle Ard Oideachais Cumann Lúthchleas Gael (CLG), the GAA's Higher Education Council.
Séamus Harnedy is an Irish hurler. At club level he plays with St Ita's, divisional side Imokilly and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a left wing-forward.
Gearóid M. Hegarty is an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer who plays as a right wing-forward for club side St Patrick's and at inter-county level with the Limerick senior hurling team. He is a former member of the Limerick senior football team.
Eibhear Quilligan is an Irish hurler who plays for Clare Championship club Feakle and at inter-county level with the Clare senior hurling team. He typically starts as the goalkeeper.
Ethan Twomey is an Irish hurler. At club level he plays with St Finbarr's and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team.
William McCarthy was an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer. He played at club level with Lees and St Brendan's, Ardfert and at inter-county level with the Kerry junior teams in both codes.
Patrick O'Doherty is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with St Patrick's, Glen Rovers and St Nicholas'. O'Doherty also lined out at inter-county level with Limerick and Clare. His brother, Martin O'Doherty, captained Cork to the All-Ireland SHC title in 1977.
Daniel Harnedy was an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with Castlemagner and University College Cork in Cork, Éire Óg and Carlow Town Hurling Club and also at inter-county level with the Cork senior football team.
