Myeloid zinc finger 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MZF1 gene. [5] [6]

Interactions

MZF1 has been shown to interact with SCAND1. [7] In 2014, the laboratory of Nathan H. Lents showed that MZF-1 induces the GAPDH gene, something that must be considered when GAPDH is used as a loading control in experiments that may induce or perturb MZF-1. [8] The same group later showed that MZF-1 induces CTGF and NOV, two members of the CCN gene family. [9]

Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase is an enzyme of about 37kDa that catalyzes the sixth step of glycolysis and thus serves to break down glucose for energy and carbon molecules. In addition to this long established metabolic function, GAPDH has recently been implicated in several non-metabolic processes, including transcription activation, initiation of apoptosis, ER to Golgi vesicle shuttling, and fast axonal, or axoplasmic transport. In sperm, a testis-specific isoenzyme GAPDHS is expressed.

GATA2 or GATA-binding factor 2 is a transcription factor, i.e. a nuclear protein which regulates the expression of genes. GATA2 is encoded by the GATA2 gene, a gene which often suffers germline and somatic mutations which lead to a wide range of familial and sporadic diseases, respectively. The gene and its product are targets for the treatment of these diseases.
