The Maghreb Champions Cup was a North African football competition organized by the Union Maghrebine de Football (UMF) and which regrouped the winners of the leagues from Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Libya (only in the first edition). Mauritania at this time was not a part of the Maghreb, so their clubs did not participate.

The 2011–12 Botola is the 55th season of the Moroccan Top League, but the 1st under its new format of Moroccan Pro League. It began on Friday 19 August 2011 with Maghreb Fez beating Hassania Agadir 2–0. Raja Casablanca are the holders of the title. Moghreb Tétouan won the 2011–12 Botola, after defeating the runner-up FUS Rabat in the last game of the season at Stade Moulay Abdellah, Rabat. Both teams were pushing for the title until the last game. It was the first time in history of the Botola that a team from the north of the country wins it.

The 2013–14 season was the 64th year for the Moroccan football club Raja Casablancas. In the previous season, from 2012–13, the team won both of Morocco's domestic competitions. They won the Botola Pro title by finishing four points ahead of FAR Rabat, who finished second and 18 points ahead of their biggest rivals Wydad Casablanca, who finished third. They won the Coupe du Trône title by beating FAR Rabat 5–4 on penalties in the final after the first 120 minutes finished level at 0–0. Their season wasn't all glory as they lost in the UAFA Club Cup at the semi-final stage, losing on away goals to Al-Arabi SC of Kuwait.

The 2013–14 Botola is the 57th season of the Moroccan Top League, but the 3rd under its new format of Moroccan Pro League.

They will be competing in Championnat National, the Maghreb Cup Winners Cup and the Algerian Cup. In the Maghreb Cup Winners Cup and in his first participation, USM Alger managed to reach the final, where he was defeated against the Moroccan landowner RS Settat the champion of Coupe du Trône with a single goal, In the Algerian Cup the club reached the final for the second time in a row against the same team CR Belcourt.
