The MHT-CET or Common Entrance Test is an annual entrance exam conducted by the Government of Maharashtra. [4] [5] It is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education. The degree courses of the following streams are mainly accounted for in this entrance exam:

Earlier the test scores were also used for admissions to Medical degree courses. After the Supreme Court of India insisted that only NEET can be used for undergraduate medicine admissions all over India, MHT-CET has been scrapped for medical colleges. The test is conducted in online mode for the first time in 2019. The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra released the syllabus and marking scheme for the Computer Based Test (CBT). [6]

The test was also used for admissions to the undergarduate course in Planning at the College of Engineering Pune, this was changed with the introduction of a separate entrance test for Planning in 2022. [7]

Previously it was conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education before NTA.

Engineering Agricultural and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test, commonly called as EAPCET, is an entrance examination held separately in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for admission into various colleges across both the states in the streams of Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy.

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET), formerly Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) is a standardised test in India conducted by the National Testing Agency at various levels—CUET (UG), CUET (PG), and CUET (PhD), for admission to undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate programmes in Central Universities and other participating institutes. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Postgraduate), abbreviated as NEET (PG) is an entrance examination in India conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) for determining eligibility of candidates for admission to postgraduate medical programmes in government or private medical colleges, such as Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS), PG diploma, Diplomate of National Board (DNB), Doctorate of National Board (DrNB), and NBEMS diploma. This exam replaced All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE). The counselling and seat allotment is conducted by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The standard entry-to-practice degree in modern evidence-based medicine in India is the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). Alternative systems of Medicine in India are Ayurveda (BAMS), Unani (BUMS), Siddha(BSMS), Homeopathy (BHMS). M.B.B.S. a credential earned upon completion of a five-and-a-half-year undergraduate program. The curriculum is divided into one year of preclinical studies in general science subjects and three and a half years of paraclinical and clinical studies, followed by a one-year clinical internship. Before beginning the internship, students are required to pass several examinations, the final one of which is conducted in two parts. Postgraduate education in medical specialties typically takes 3 additional years of study after the MBBS and concludes with the award of a Master of Surgery or Doctor of Medicine(MD). Postgraduate diplomas in medical specialities may also be awarded upon the completion of two-year training programs. After that a person can further get a degree in superspeciality in his or her respective branch after successful completion of 3 years of superspeciality in a medical college.

The Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council (MSPC) is the statutory body under Ministry of Medical Education, Government of Maharashtra. It is constituted under the Pharmacy Act, 1948. Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council regulates the profession of pharmacy in Maharashtra.
