Mahirud (Persian : ماهي رود‎, also Romanized as Māhīrūd, Mahi Rood; also known as Mahrūd and Māhrūd)^[1] is a village in Doreh Rural District, in the Central District of Sarbisheh County, South Khorasan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 331, in 108 families.^[2] Mahirud borders the Farah Province of Afghanistan.

Persian, also known by its endonym Farsi, is one of the Western Iranian languages within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is a pluricentric language primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other regions which historically were Persianate societies and considered part of Greater Iran. It is written right to left in the Persian alphabet, a modified variant of the Arabic script.

Doreh Rural District is a rural district (dehestan) in the Central District of Sarbisheh County, South Khorasan Province, Iran. In the 2006 census, its population was 9,650, in 2,457 families. The rural district has 67 villages.

The Central District of Sarbisheh County is a district (bakhsh) in Sarbisheh County, South Khorasan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 25,788, in 6,602 families.
