Production

Netflix first announced the project as part of their Geeked Week in June 2021. [2] The story was written by Yasuo Ohtagaki, Makoto Honda directed, and animation and character designs are done by 5 Inc. [3] At the 2022 Geeked Week, Netflix released a first look at some character screenshots, alongside their voice actors, and the design of the mecha Casper by Ohtagaki and Shoji Kawamori. Yumiko Yoshizawa wrote the script and Kensuke Ushio composed the music. [4]

Release

Make My Day was originally announced as an animated film, but in January 2023, Netflix announced that it would be a series instead. The series was released in full on February 2, 2023. [5]

Reception

Make My Day receivied mixed reviews. The series was praised for having an character development [6] and impactful narrative, despite seeming to take on too much, [7] [8] [9] but it was also called formulaic and predictable. [10] The animation was called "subpar", [9] [6] yet it was also highlighted for its ability to convey real emotions for a breathtaking and immersive experience. [8]

A Silent Voice is a 2016 Japanese animated drama film based on the manga of the same name by Yoshitoki Ōima. The film was produced by Kyoto Animation, directed by Naoko Yamada and written by Reiko Yoshida, featuring character designs by Futoshi Nishiya and music by Kensuke Ushio. Plans for an animated film adaptation were announced back in November 2014, Kyoto Animation was confirmed to produce the film in November 2015. Miyu Irino and Saori Hayami signed on as voice casting in May 2016 and the theatrical release poster and official trailer were released in July 2016.

Terminator Zero is an upcoming science-fiction action anime series developed by Mattson Tomlin and set in the Terminator universe. The eight-episode show was produced for Netflix by animation studio Production I.G and Skydance Television under the direction of Masashi Kudō.
