Marfa is a city in the high desert of the Trans-Pecos in far West Texas, United States, between the Davis Mountains and Big Bend National Park. It is the county seat of Presidio County, and its population as of the 2010 United States Census was 1,981. The city was founded in the early 1880s as a water stop; the population peaked in the 1930s and has continued to decline each decade since. Today, Marfa is a tourist destination and a major center for minimalist art. Attractions include Building 98, the Chinati Foundation, artisan shops, historical architecture, a classic Texas town square, modern art installments, art galleries, and the Marfa lights.

La Entrada al Pacífico is a trade corridor designated as "Trade Corridor 56" by the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act. The corridor is an international project between Mexico and the United States as a route from the Pacific Ocean port of Topolobampo in the Mexican state of Sinaloa to the U.S. state of Texas and beyond by way of the Midland-Odessa area. There is also a proposed upgrade of the rail connection, which might be easier by not requiring the addition of new bridges and tunnels in the Barranca de Cobre region. Its canyons are comparable in depth to the Grand Canyon in the United States.

KXWT is a listener-supported public radio licensed to Odessa, Texas, and is owned and operated by Marfa Public Radio. Until 2012, it was owned and operated by Odessa College. It is the National Public Radio member station for Odessa, Midland and the Permian Basin. KXWT now operates at an assigned frequency of 91.3 MHz with an effective radiated power of 20,000 watts. With the purchase of KXWT by Marfa Public Radio, a new transmitter was built in Gardendale to allow the frequency to boost to Andrews, Crane, and other surrounding areas.
WXXO is a public, listener-supported radio station in Rochester, New York, airing a classical music radio format. Its programs can also be heard in Houghton on WXXY and on the seventh digital subchannel of WXXI-TV. It's owned by the WXXI Public Broadcasting Council, which also owns WXXI-TV and a two-station news and information service, WXXI and WXXI-FM (105.9). WXXO holds periodic fundraisers on the air to support the station.

The broadcast area reaches to Jasper, Texas at the north, Lake Charles, Louisiana to the east, Bolivar, Texas to the south and Baytown, Texas to the west. Launched in 1974, the station operates independently and features a diverse 24/7 schedule of programs including NPR news morning, midday and afternoon as well as locally produced music programs, local features and radio documentaries, etc. The station is largely member supported with additional support coming from the university and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as well as program underwriters.
KHVU is a non-commercial radio station in Houston, Texas. It is owned by Hope Media Group, which owns Christian AC-formatted KSBJ, and airs a Spanish-language Christian adult contemporary radio format. The studios and offices are on Treble Drive in Humble, Texas, near Bush Intercontinental Airport, and the transmitter is located off Sorters McClellan Road in Porter.
