The politics of Tanzania takes place in a framework of a unitary presidential democratic republic,whereby the President of Tanzania is both head of state and head of government,and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. The party system is dominated by the Chama Cha Mapinduzi. The Judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.
Abdallah Said Fundikira III was the Ntemi (chief) of Unyanyembe 1957–1962/2007,when he was deposed by the Tanzanian government. He died as a member of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi party.

The Igunga by-election was a by-election held for the Tanzanian parliamentary constituency of Igunga in Tabora Region. It was triggered by the resignation of Rostam Aziz,the previous Member of Parliament (MP) who had held the seat for the Chama Cha Mapinduzi since 1994. The by-election took place on 2 October 2011 and the CCM candidate won by 50.46%.
