Mary Joan "Mary Jo" Peppler (born October 17, 1944) [1] is a retired American volleyball player and coach. Peppler was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 1990. She also played professional basketball with the New Jersey Gems of the Women's Professional Basketball League for one season.
Peppler was born in Rockford, Illinois. At the age of six she moved to Texas. She signed up for the Girls Athletic Association in the fourth grade; it was then that she learned of her love for volleyball. Peppler attended Sul Ross State and was a six time All-American.
Peppler has coached (as the assistant or head coach) at Utah State, Florida, and Kentucky.
While at Sul Ross State (Alpine, TX) she guided her team to back to back Division I National championships, going 70-0 over two seasons. She guided E. Pluribus Unum of Houston, Texas to crowns in 1972 in Salt Lake City and 1973 in Duluth, Minnesota, and Utah State University to the championship in 1981 in Arlington, Texas. [2]
From 1991–96, Peppler mentored the number-one women's beach volleyball team of Karolyn Kirby and Liz Masakayan. [3] In the 2000s, she coached Bulgaria's women's Olympic beach volleyball team, Lina and Petia Yanchulova.
In 2017, Pepper began serving as assistant coach to head coach Karolyn Kirby at the University of Saint Katherine in San Marcos, CA in the university's first year of having both a men's and women's volleyball team.
Peppler's international experience includes playing on the 1964 U.S. Olympic Team, on the 1967 U.S. Gold Medal Pan American Team (named to All Tournament Team), and at the 1970 World Championships where she was named the tournament's most outstanding player. In 1975 she won ABC's inaugural Women's Superstars competition and in the softball throw competition threw the ball over the judge's head and the fence behind him.
Professionally, Peppler was the player/coach for the El Paso Sol (1975) and Phoenix Heat (1976) of the International Volleyball Association as well as Major League Volleyball's New York Liberties in 1987 and 1988.
Other honors Peppler received include All-Star honors in 1987 and 1988, All-Pro award in 1987, and the USVBA's "All-Time Great Player" Award in 1982. She was inducted into the Women's Sports Hall of Fame in 1983.
In 1978-79, Peppler joined the New Jersey Gems of the brand-new Women's Professional Basketball League. [4]

Logan Maile Lei Tom is a former American indoor volleyball, beach volleyball player, and is current head coach of the Israel women's national volleyball team. She is a four-time Olympian at the outside hitter position. At age 19, Logan became the youngest woman ever to be selected for an American Olympic volleyball team when she competed at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. She is a skilled all-around player who brings stability to the American serve receive and defense, while also providing the team with a solid attack and block at the net. She had been a huge part of the national team from 2000 to 2012. At the 2008 Olympics, Tom helped Team USA win a silver medal and was named Best Scorer, she won another silver medal at the 2012 Olympics with the national team. She was also awarded the Most Valuable Player of the 2004 FIVB World Grand Prix.
Ann Meyers Drysdale is an American former basketball player and sportscaster. She was a standout player in high school, college, the Olympic Games, international tournaments, and the professional levels.
Fran Flory is an American retired head coach of the LSU Tigers women's indoor volleyball team and former head coach of the LSU Tigers women's beach volleyball team.
The New York Liberties were one of six teams in the Major League Volleyball franchise. The league began in 1987 and ended short of completing a full season in 1989. Players consisted of former collegiate All Americans and Olympians.

His lifetime head coaching record is 1330–229, which ranks first in NCAA Division I history. He has the most wins and highest winning percentage of any Penn State intercollegiate athletic coach in Penn State history.

Tara Cross-Battle is a retired volleyball player from the United States who competed in four Summer Olympics overall, starting in 1992. Cross-Battle won the bronze medal with the United States women's national team at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. Her last Olympic appearance was at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.
Karolyn Kirby is a retired female beach volleyball player from the United States. She won the bronze medal at the 1997 World Championships in Los Angeles, California, partnering with Nancy Reno. The pair also won the 1992 Olympic tournament, at which time beach volleyball was a demonstration sport.

Susan Jean "Sue" Woodstra is an American retired volleyball player who won a silver medal with the United States women's national volleyball team at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. She is now a volleyball coach.
John Andrew Banachowski is an American volleyball coach. He was the head coach of the women's volleyball team at UCLA. He had more wins than any other Division I coach, with 1,106 total victories and an overall record since the 1970 season of 1,106-301 (.786), until his record was broken on September 6, 2013, by University of Hawaii head coach Dave Shoji. He did not coach the two seasons from 1968-1970 after his graduation from UCLA. Under his coaching, the UCLA team won six national championships. Banachowski was twice an All-American volleyball player at UCLA under Al Scates, and won USVBA national championships in 1965 and 1967 as a player. While at UCLA he joined Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity.
Teri Clemens is a retired American volleyball coach. Clemens served as the head coach at Washington University in St. Louis for 14 years, where she led the Bears to seven NCAA Division III national championships, including six consecutive from 1991-96.
Laurie Flachmeier Corbelli is a former professional indoor volleyball player. She won a silver medal with the United States national team at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
Liz Masakayan is a former indoor and beach volleyball player, and is currently a coach. She participated in the 1988 Summer Olympics with the United States women's national volleyball team, and as a beach volleyball player won a total of 47 tournaments in her career.

Patty Dowdell is a retired volleyball player who primarily was on the United States women's national volleyball team from 1974 to 1980. With the national team, Dowdell and the United States finished in seventh at the 1977 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup and fifth at the 1978 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship. After playing at the 1979 Pan American Games, Dowdell was part of the American volleyball team that boycotted the 1980 Summer Olympics. She resumed playing on the national team in the early 1980s and did not play any games at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Outside of the national team, Dowdell played for the Dallas Belles and Chicago Breeze in the Major League Volleyball during the late 1980s.
Katie Anne Schumacher-Cawley is an American former volleyball and basketball player and is the head coach of the Penn State women's volleyball team. After serving as the associate head coach since 2018, she was named head coach on January 10, 2022, following Russ Rose's retirement from coaching.
