The Mayor of Kuala Lumpur (Malay : Datuk Bandar Kuala Lumpur) is the chief executive for the local government of Kuala Lumpur, the capital and largest city of Malaysia. Each year, the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur presents the Kuala Lumpur city budget to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall. The mayor is charged with managing an annual budget of MYR 2.905 billion (as of 2018).

The Kuala Langat District is a district of Selangor, Malaysia. It is situated in the southwestern part of Selangor. It covers an area of 858 square kilometres, and had a population of 307,787 at the 2020 Census. It is bordered by the districts of Klang and Petaling to the north and Sepang to the east. The Strait of Malacca forms its western border.

Elyas bin Omar was the third Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, as well as the longest serving as Mayor in History of Kuala Lumpur. He served for a period of 12 years. Elyas was the president of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and during his tenure, Malaysia won the Thomas Cup in 1992. In football, Elyas was president of Kuala Lumpur FA when it won the Malaysia Cup three times in a row from 1987 to 1989. On 17 November 1992, he was succeeded by Mazlan Ahmad as Mayor of Kuala Lumpur.
